Any die hard Castlevania fan will know that there is an unreleased game for the Sega 32X that was canceled called Castlevania - The Bloodletting. The Sega 32X was not selling well and Konami feared to release the game on it, so they reworked what they had and made Symphony of the Night.
1846, just two years after the man-wolf Cornell defeated Count Dracula the countryside basked in peace and prosperity. The darkness of the land had been lifted and all was well. But on a beautiful easter evening as the people of the land celebrated, a shadow loomed in the distance. It brought forth madness and chaos and the evil in men's hearts returned.
Harker Belmont, the son of Richter Belmont and the heir to the Vampire Killer returned home to find the village in flames and the evil servants of Dracula endlessly slaughtering the villagers. In the distance, he saw Dracula's castle. Knowing the tribulations he was about to face, he set out for the castle with only his whip and courage. Harker prayed for the guidance of God and the power of his father Richter, of which whom died ten years earlier, to seal Dracula away for eternity. All the while, a lone question lingered in his mind. Why is Dracula alive and who resurrected him?
I have opted to use the unused Belmont sprite (some call him Hanz Belmont) and craft my own tale of the long lineage of the legendary Belmont's.
NOTE: These screenshots are early of the revamp I am working on. I originally had 4 stages completed but the engine was horrid and buggy and the resolution was a terror, and in order to fix it every map needed to be fixed so I began working on it again from the ground up and fixing the original engine and other problems in the process.

This is not the final release, however it is the full game, multiple endings, codes, secrets and all. I have fixed a LOT and polished a lot since v1.0 but I still need a little bit of beta testing. If you find any please report them to me and you will receive beta tester credit in the final game!!!
I've been conducting heavy and extensive beta testing for over 2 weeks now and have had a select handful of people testing the game and pointing out bugs to me. It seems to be fewer and fewer reported bugs now and a great majority of them have been fixed. I might be looking at final release within the next week or two if all goes well.
I've added all the endings, credits are in place, cheat codes are in, the game now gives you "rewards" after beating it depending on how you did. Updated the auto save system, fixed a few more glitches, working on the instructions, added the demo mode, etc. Getting really close to release...
Today marks the day I finished developing the actual gameplay for this game. Now, all that's left is to put in the endings in the game, yes I emphasize the plural portion of endings. I've quite honestly ran out of resources and ideas for alternate levels, maybe I'll make a patch down the road for alternate levels but there is still tons of hidden goodies in the game and alternate endings which takes into account varies things you do in the quest to give you the ending you get, time, item crashes used, how many continues you used, etc.
Then after I implement the endings I shall go back, polish the game like crazy and fix bugs left and right. Still a little bit to go but the hardest part is done!!!
