Hi!
Finally something that isn't purely a puzzle game! Bombing Room is a platformer, that resembles Jetpack (Adept Software, 1993), Tekkyuuman (Ikiki, 2007) and maybe a bit of N (Metanet Software, 2005). The idea is to lead a lonely sledgehammerman to freedom by collecting strange green orbs. The game features a level editor, and many campaigns. Post your own to http://hempuli.6.forumer.com

Controls:
Arrows: Move
Shift: Jump (Hold to jump higher)
Ctrl: Release sledgehammer
Ctrl + Y: Change controls

It's that simple. You can also aim the hammer with arrow buttons. When the hammer comes back to you, it throws you back a little. Also, if it comes to you from below, it makes you jump a bit. This can be used when trying to reach places.

Nice. This game reminds me about Ikiki's game named Kusariman.

On Ravinius's campaign, on the top, the turret things shot through the blocks and killed me . I think you can change that from happening if you have a collision check if the laser is overlapping a block before a collision check if the laser is overlapping player.

That's sad. That haven't happened to me, so quite hard to fix yet.

Hmm.. Pretty similar to "N". But that's just the graphic style and the way a counter slowly sinks and you collect coins to keep it up. Fun and addictiv!

I love N, and this is pretty sweet, though it lacks the same mobility. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "sledgehammer", but the ol' ball and chain is pretty cool.

I suck. Level 3 owns me.

The white background is a major turnoff; its near impossible to see spikes or lasers without turning my contrast WAY WAY WAY up.

Posted by Hempuli 17th January, 2008

Well, the lasers can be hard to see, but the spikes have black outlines AND the background isn't white. Shouldn't be very hard to see. I can make the lasers darker though.

Im missing a screen to explain the controls besides the readme in the folder, this could be incorporated into the tutorial. Also the learning curve is kinda harsh, I would love to see a easy campaign as start. It's a major turn off and I dropped the game twice as I died on a level. When you die nothing happens. There should be a option to reset the level or at least drop you back to the menu. Also on Campaign1 on level three how can you even get started? You can't jump high enough to reach the platform on top and there is no way of getting to the right side, so whats the deal?

For the moment I would rate it 2 for the effort.

this game is alot like the N. Really cool game.

Posted by Hempuli 18th January, 2008

@Mavado: Yes, the learning curve is quite high.
About those controls, if you check the 'help' -section of the game, the controls are listed there. When you die, you press enter to restart or esc to go back to the main menu. These were also told in the 'info' -section. Sad that you didn't like it.

Thanks for the comments!

@ Hempuli, thanks for clarification, I just noticed the little <> arrows on the info screen Image ... a bit hard to notice first as they blend perfectly with the background. OK Enter works fine too, a message would be cool too.

I don't said I did not like it, at least I can now start enjoying it.

Excellent game, Hempuli!
Strange... the three games that I was reminded of turned out to be the three that you mentioned in the description.
Hardly anyone knows of the Jetpack series, though.

But everyone should.
