Reminds me of Ogre Battle 64 for the Nintendo 64. Maybe you could look at that and see if it gives you ideas?

I prefer to avoid looking at other games too much, as I have a tendency to imitate sources of inspiration. ;P

That said, I'd say my inspiration so far have been Final Fantasy XIII (which sparked the automated squads concept) and The Last Remnant (five member parties with a leader). Visual style is meant to be similar to those in TRPG's like FF:Tactics and games from NIS.

Should I run out of ideas, I'll probably take a look at Ogre Battle 64.
