New Project
Posted 9th Nov 11, by Otter
Hola TDC! I'm proud to introduce my new project Public Investigator. I started work on Public Investigator: Curse Of The Swamp Monster back in mid september. I had hoped to finish it for a halloween compo, but I had a period without my lab top and it was obviously to large to undertake in that time span. PI:COTSM is going to be a fairly small project by my previous standards, luckily I have decided that I wish to utilize the real time features of Mother World, but this time they will only be on a week day and hourly basis. Sorry, but no seasonal changes. The meat of the game will be in solving cases, which develops the story along and helps you earn money. I think the enviroment should be a breath of fresh air compared to most we see in click enviroments.

To me, this is the funnest part of the game. Kudzu swamp is a huge place, and majority of it is covered in water. Instead of just allowing the players to swim from place to place, they have to take their boat. By simply pressing space while on the dock, you can operate the motor boat and speed through the swamps. The handling takes some getting used to, but it definitely makes the game funner once you do.

The game has a lot of references to classic blue grass music throughout it. Just for laughs, you will be able to get a banjo you can equip like a tool and even play it.

The game focuses on being cute but scary at the same time. Despite the cute characters, the game definitely has a dark side, like the way you can sometimes hear a faint voice saying "Mama!" at night.

Ultimately, Kudzu swamp is in a world all its own. The swamp seems to be mixture of Applachian and Cajun culture, with several others thrown in.

So what do you guys think? Opinions? Questions? Comments? Concerns?

EDIT: Here's what the map looks like so far. I have one more house to add. Some houses are actually shops and the shop owner's live in seperate houses that they can be found at after closing hours.

Now keep in mind, outside of the house interiors, the entire game will take place inside of this area.
