Update under work
Posted 9th Oct 10, by HitmanN
Been a while since I updated "Tank Game". I was planning to work on online multiplayer next, but realized how tough it is without having two computers fast enough to constantly test things while I build the game. Running multiple instances locally has its problems too, both performance and lacewing wise, so I've decided to work on other features for now instead. Shame though, I was hoping to get the online multiplayer done soon. >,<

Anyways, what I already have done for the next update is:
*two bug fixes
*selectable income rate for gold mines, and a new optional fixed income from factories. (useful if you want to decrease benefits from gold mines, while keeping a fixed base income instead)

In addition, I'm planning on replacing the 'Factory Capture' victory condition with a new 'Destroy Reactor' condition, in which case a new reactor building is spawned near start positions, and obviously works as a target the opponent needs to destroy to win. The reactor could be upgraded to have self-repairing, missile disruption, etc, which should make destroying the reactor a tough enough job. The reason why I want to replace the Factory Capture condition is that it doesn't always work correctly as it is, and if using high enough fixed income, the factory under capture can produce a mining drone often enough to push away any opponent units that are trying to capture the factory, which gets annoying fast. And let's face it, blowing up a building is ten times more fun than parking units in front of it. ;P

If anyone has any bug reports, or balance tweaks to suggest, or requests for new features or content, just leave a message.

A link to the last version v0.42 is still in the previous devlog entry, below.

Bummer about the multiplayer progress, but yay on the fact this game is still alive - awesome!
