I Really NEED HELP with a Simple Layering System
Posted 24th Mar 09, by MBK
Ok, I have everything needed for a functional, simple, well-organised, and commented engine EXCEPT a way to tell seperate instances to go to front and back when they should.

If you have any ideas, please post them here.
Or better still would be to post an example for me to look at.

Remember that I'm using TGF1 and dealing with seperate instances of the same actives, and NOT simply seperate actives.

Oh, a quick question: If I were to use MMF2 and the layer system, wouldn't that add alot to the file size for each extra layer that I use?

I can't think of a way of you doing this on TGF. This was one of the major problems I faced with it.

MMF2 sorts out this problem nicely. You don't need to use separate layers, you can use the 'layer tool' which simply puts them in the order of a value, so you can put their value as their Y coordinate and there will never be problems with things being in front of others when they shouldn't be.

Ahh, I see. Well, problem fixed now.

I've done it in TGF1. It works .. I needs a graphic artist to make one character to walk about, a platform and background, then I'll show it to everyone.
