Project Overview
Preview Hooghaar Classic (hhcl) demo is an html5canvas port from the new java version.
Which is a platformer based on the unreleased game hooghaar pro mg.

The gameplay is based around a switch to operate the teleport which
transports you to the next level. It's so easy, except fishheads are
blocking your way, so get rid of them! Or find a better solution to deal with them.

All right, so html5canvas means that you need a browser which supports html5, the canvas element and javascript. My recommendations:
1 Chrome (simply the fastest)
2 Opera (good choice)
3 Safari
4 Firefox (has a slow javascript engine)
5 Internet Explorer 9 (doesn't support sounds)

So if you're equipped with the right gear you can play this game online in your webbrowser by just following this link:
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82972447/gv-summary-html/files/canvas/hhcl-demo/index.html

Press S if you want to disable the sounds.

Jabba tha HUD
Posted 3rd Sep 11, by Jenswa Post A Comment
The HUD has finally arrived!

Fixed an annoying barrel bug.
When all coins in a level are collected, the player receives a life!
When the player dies he looses a life, but at the moment he can't go game over.

At first I disabled all the key bindings for browser actions. However I couldn't use F5 for reloading anymore, which was a convenient for debugging. So I removed this feature. It's not in there anymore and the reason is that I don't want to test against the four keys and then disable the default browser action (in this case scrolling).

The resolution of the game is 640x480 and I am debugging it on a netbook with a res of 800x480 so I came up with a netbook adjustment:

The full screen version:
(final version is also full screen compatible)
Which is meant to be running in full screen, so press F11 in your browser.

Other changes can be found in the changelog:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82972447/gv-summary-html/files/canvas/hhcl-demo/changelog.txt

And of course the demo is still over at:
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82972447/gv-summary-html/files/canvas/hhcl-demo/index.html

Enjoy! All 3 levels are fully playable with HUD! And no Jabba

Edit: fixed a typo in the title
Edit2: fixed an image link
Edit: fixed the links

Minor update
Posted 12th Aug 11, by Jenswa Post A Comment
This minor update swaps the X and Z key:
Z is now used for shooting
X is now used for jumping
Just the way it is in every normal platformer.

Please read the changelog for full details:

Bullets
Posted 5th Aug 11, by Jenswa 2 Comments
Bullets have been introduced and can be used to shoot and kill fishheads, but not all fishheads. The steel barrel fishhead is immune to bullets.

You can play it online by following the main link of this project.

Just a little note about sounds, it seems to be buggy all over again. When I play online (from the website) I don't hear any sounds while they do get loaded. And when I play offline (from the harddrive) I do hear the sounds. Weird or doesn't my webserver serve the audio files with the correct mimetype? That could be it, will look into that later.
