Azure Wing will be a side-scrolling shoot 'em up. My goal is to combine the traditional Shoot 'Em Up formula with some elements from games like Mega Man such as stage select, acquiring weapons from defeating bosses, exploiting boss weaknesses, etc.

There are 5 levels at first. The player can choose which order to clear them in. After beating the boss of each stage, you will be able to use their power (like in Mega man). Each boss is weak to a particular weapon. After defeating the 5 stages, there will be three final stages in which you must fully utilize the 5 weapons acquired from the first 5 stages (Freezing traps, Burning plant obstacles, Cutting through walls, etc).

1 Intro/Tutorial Stage
5 Stages chosen in the order the player desires
3 Challenging Final Stages
7 Different Weapons to acquire
Plasma Beam (Starting Weapon)
5 Weapons Acquired from Stage bosses
Secret Hidden Ultimate Weapon
Weapons will also play a role in affecting the environment, such as burning plant obstacles and freezing traps.


This is actually the first game I plan to submit to TDC. I've been a 'kliker' for many many years now, but never got to finishing any projects that I felt good enough to submit. It was always a hobby of mine that I never really had enough time to dedicate to. Finally getting back into it, and hoping to release some fun games. Starting off with a simple shoot 'em up, but will definitely be looking to create something bigger and better in the future (Most likely some Platform/Adventure games)!

I know it's been a while since my last update. I am still working on the game, and I now have much more time to dedicate to it.

I am nearly done with the first stage. I will upload a full video of the first stage by the end of the week (including boss battle).

For now, here are some updated screenies. Not much has been done since the last update (mostly graphical and engine tweaks).

Expect more frequent updates from here on

Well, saying that I've been working hard this past week would be a blatant lie. What I have been doing is playing through my NES library: Metroid, Castlevania, Zelda 2, and Mega Man 2 just to name a few classics.

With that being said, I have done a fair amount of work on Azure Wing. Stage 1 is nearing completion. More work, however, was spent on the menu screens and some music: 'Got Weapon' and 'Ice Stage' songs.

Planning to begin work on Stage 2 soon and release an Alpha test for you guys to play! More updates to come. Stay tuned!
Stage 1 Demo Video!!!

Well, I'm still about 75% done with Stage 1 (Have to add in two more enemy types and also the boss battle). I haven't had as much time as I thought I would this past week. I got a lot done, however there is still much to do on Stage 1. Anyway, I figured I might as well upload a video of the first half of the stage so everyone can see how it plays. Keep in mind that this is not 100% what the game will look like or play like. There are still a LOT of tweaks I have left to make (Mostly in the graphics department, which is not my strong point ) Well, before I get off topic... HERE IT IS!!!



I tried to demo the weapons as best as I could. The weapons, in order from left to right, are: Plasma Canon (Starting weapon, requires no energy), Wheel Blade, Flame Burner, Acid Rain, Ice Needle, and Razor Leaf (Still working on this one, haven't fully decided how I want this weapon to work).

Stage 1 - Waste Disposal Facility
I've spent most of the past week getting the basic engine to run the way I want (Movement, weapons, etc.) and started working on Stage 1 over the weekend. The stage starts out in a city that is several stories deep in toxic ooze. It then continues inside a waste disposal/sewage facility. After navigating many tight tunnels and passages, avoiding toxic waterfalls, and defeating mutant monsters, you encounter the giant mutant slime boss from which you will acquire the acid rain weapon.

Just figured I'd share some screens of what I've done so far. Most of the graphics are not 100% done yet, and are temporary until I go back and polish them up. But at least this will give more of an idea as to what my game will look like. I hope to have this stage completed by the end of the week and upload a full playthrough video of the stage.
