I've only had one compatibility problem ever with XP/Longhorn. Myst 3 wouldn't run on it, well, I actually haven't tried it on Longhorn yet The only other thing causing problems is because Longhorn tells programs it's Longhorn and not XP, so some programs say it' not compatible, but it more likely than not is, they just won't let you run it

Error reporting is one of the most basic things ever; I can't imagine how you could fuck it up. And YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON, AUTOMATIC UPDATES IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES IN WINDOWS! YOU CAN’T BITCH ABOUT STUFF NOT WORKING IF YOU DON'T INSTALL THOSE YOU STUPID SHIT! AND IT GIVES YOU THE OPTION OF RESTARTING NOW OR LATER. THE ERROR REPORTING WON’T WORK IF YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET, WHICH IS THE ONLY REASON IT WOULDN’T WORK, BESIDES YOUR STUPIDITY.

Jay, your brain must be full of shit, your statement has no facts to back it up and I am going to disregard it as idiotic blather from a stupid wank.

Incompatible my ass, they have always been backwards compatible, XP worked with pretty much everything, you are fucking stupid. XP and Longhorn come with a DOS program. That’s why all my original DOS games, 95 games, 98 games work on XP. HOW CAN YOU BE SO FUCKING STUPID?! I CANT IMAGINE HOW ANYONE CAN HAVE SUCH A DISFUNCTIONAL BRAIN! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK THE CHECKBOX DID, YOU THINK THEY ADDED IT IN JUST FOR LOOKS?

Firefox - Mozilla, basically same thing, same company.

XP isn’t the only factor in Myst 3 not working; you probably have a shitty computer that was made shittier by your failure to take care of it. You should check the fucking specs on the box.

My computer is better than the specs on the box, the only thing is, it doesn't say XP, and my really old computer that is no where NEAR matching the Myst 3 specs could run it and it had Win 95, and I tested it on a fresh install of XP too. As for the error reporting, I'm always connected to the internet, it just fails to connect and submit properly. And automatic updates have never done anything GOOD for my computer, in fact, when I installed one of the updates, it ruined my CD and DVD drivers, and made the driver update software not work. not to mention Norton Anti-virus utterly destroys my internet access when it is installed. JP, please make sure you know everything about my computer before saying it's my computer's fault something doesn't work. In fact, of the 9 times I've had to install windows XP, it was my fault one time, I knew I should've used the other boot screen changing method

The only constant seemst to be you, and since your level of intelligence seems to be sub par, it is fair to say that you are the problem and not XP. No one else has problems with error reporting, no one else has problems with Norton, your setting must have been off, which is up to YOU to fix. Do you think auto updates are released just for the hell of it? You too fucking stupid to be able to own a PC. I'd rather have a mandatory IQ test before people are allowed to buy a comp. Your parents should take away your comp because you just seem to fuck everything up.

nah, you just don't know my deep-rooted hatred for Microsoft and Nintendo And the time I managed to get it stable (after more tweaks than worth XP) the power died to my computer ruining the apps that were open at the time so Photoshop and many other things just died then I switched to longhorn

Right right, and your hatred for Microsoft is a reason for blaming windows with things that cannot be attributed to it. Power outages will not mess up your programs, it’s a fact. That’s just not the way computers store things. Sure you will lose the temporary data in your cache, but your hard drive will be untouched. I’m not sure how much of the stuff you are writing is exaggerated or complete bullshit. I mean, come on, installing XP nine times is just not necessary, and obviously something else is wrong. Normal people would have tried something else. Every XP CD is an exact copy, there is no way for them to give you a bad version, if it was Microsoft's fault, everyone would be having problems. Your irrational hate for Microsoft is no reason to attribute every single problem you have to its software.

Switching to longhorn is an even stupider move. You do realize that Longhorn is an unfinished MICROSOFT operating system? It is far from being done and does not yet have the full functionality that XP does.

JP, you must never have been to the REAL computer setup screen, you know, the one where you press F2 at the boot screen? There's a setting there for the hard drive that makes it either faster or quiter (can't remember which) but also increases the risk of damaging files in the event of a power outage. 4 of the 9 times I had to re-install XP, the computer wouldn't even get past the boot screen without crashing. another 4 of the 9 times came from when I would install norton antivirus and the ability to connect to the internet was damaged for absolutely no reason, I tried everything to fix it, I even called tech support (what was I thinking doing that?) until I got sick of them messing around with more settings on my computer, so I re-installed windows, and each time Norton got installed, BAM, internet's dead in the same way again. The most recent time is said power failure.

Of course I have been in BIOS, and it's nothing for little kids to be messing with. Norton is the best anti-virus out there; you probably forgot to turn off the firewall or something stupid. And what you are referring to is a RAID 1 or 0, striping or backup, yes yes I know all this shit, you don't even know the names and you are trying to belittle me with your infinitesimal amount of knowledge.

ah yes, BIOS, that's the name, I'm quite bad with names, I get my friends mixed up all the time . Anyway, I did disable norton's firewall, still didn't work. I did a virus scan, and it wouldn't detect the virus that had ended up infecting 20% of my files, I could've sworn I'd gotten rid of it :/ it takes way too much time to delete file.vbs in every zip file on a computer .

what ? a beta cannot work ? man you only knows fucking commercial programs from man who don't known how to code, i have debian Sid , what's Sid ? sid mean Unstable, YES ! unstable, but by system NEVER crashed, X sometimes crash with some fucking programs which aren't part of the distribution, but any {x,g,k}dm recover it

skype has been a beta, i had .. win 98 ! it was not officialy supported by skype, but it NEVER crashed ONE time, it disconnected some time, but the problem also occured to my 2k/XP friends

THAT what a REAL beta stand for : asking user to test their program to report bugs they didn't discover themselves, that not a fucking program which crash all the time with known bugs that never get corrected

you don't know linux, don't talk about things you don't know

You, my friend are a fucking moron, write in English next time and maybe I'll read it.

First of all Sid does not mean unstable, Sid is the codename for the unstable version, if your going to be an idiot fanatic, get your fucking semantics right. Now, sid will never get released in the final package, and you will have to agree that when it does get out of beta it will have more functionality and capability, am I correct? Yes!

Now, Skype the internet phone, yes, again beta, and surprise surprise, it didn’t crash! No SHIT! WHEN DID I FUCKING SAY THAT BETA MEANS: "[a] program which crash(SIC) all the time with known bugs that never get corrected"

NEVER YOU FUCKING IDIOT! Beta tests are the second series of tests, usually done with a wide internet audience, which tries to find bugs before it is released.

Now, shut the fuck up, I have three Linux computers I'm using for servers. YOU are a fucking kid who can't spell for shit, now go suck some dick faggot.

um lets see about how good XP runs older apps. all games tested on both SP1 and 2 for XP Home and Pro.

Quake 1, official game purchased in 98 from a small game shop in scotland. Downloaded GLQuake and a bunch of other add-ons/updates. Works in <ME... runs in XP Service Pack 1 and 2? nope... incidently WorldCraft works (have to play QuakeX on my xbox )

Unreal 1. nope.

Sim City 3000, official game again. purchased in Trafford Centre, 2000. again works fine in <ME. XP service Pack 1 and 2? nope (stuck with SC4, the crappest game in existance)

Duke Nukem 3D? nope

Doom 1 & 2? nope (but works fine with Doom Legacy and jDoom)

Rollercoster Tycoon 1? JUST about. cannot load games from ingame.

anything with DOS run? nope. because XP isnt launched from DOS. which is why theres a huge lack of compatability and which is also what makes it a major OS update. you cannot leave windows XP and go into DOS because its not there.
which is why i have to dual boot ME and XP.

no facts? this is entirely based on experience and business lectures

ps. notice the mac people are just relaxed and calm whilst others go off on a mad swearing spree? temper temper
