ok, so you get around it by using two lesser processors, but I can still hook up two of my new gateways, which would still cost less, and beat you down! I guess you don't know where to look for deals if you paid $1,860 for a 3.06, i got a 3.4 for $1,200, or £645. You can get dual processors with anything, macs aren't special. But you are right, processors aren't everything, which is why you need a kickass GPU, like the GeForce 6600, which is ofcourse in my machine. Then take my RAID 0 dual mirror drives, and I'm sitting on top of the world.

And Amnesiasoft, youre right i missed the dual part, but, well look above... And yes, I use p2p programs, to get music, software, and movies.

ive still to see how good the latest version of Virtual PC run, theres an XP home/pro edition coming out soon which would run MMF probably better than native windows systems.

googles Keyhole app is pretty much a clone of macs Spotlight search engine anyways. which is built straight into the OS

as for P2P, BitTorrent is readily available for Linux, Windows and Mac. do dah!

JP, I know I already said this, but, did you also notice that 8 GB of Ram is ~$4500 and it's 2 30" Flat panel monitors @ $3300 each. That's almost the whole price right there Then there is shake @ $3000, Production Suite @ $1,300, Logic Pro 7 @ $1,000, Adobe CD @ $1,300, If I got nothing else with it and ditched the RAM, that would be only $4,500, that's how they get ya, with all the fancy add ons

why are yous still arguing?!?! macs may be more stable when rendering video then a pc but thats about all mac has left over pc, pc is pretty much just as good / better IMO when working with multimedia.

mac has shit mouses, shit keyboards, over priced hardware, no software support... the list goes on. Windows XP is more stable than OSX in my experiences. linux sucks too.

Ok fine, take into account a 3 gb upgrade of ram, $1603 for my 1,200 pc, 1 lcd projector for $999, and a p2p program for all the rest. still $3,802 which is less than your fucking base price without monitors, 8gb ram, and programs can you fucking add? what the fuck are you going to do without a monitor? oh yeah, and to cease your bitching about dual processors, lets add another p4 3.4 for $309, which brings the grand sum up to $4,111. All the fancy add ons for $389 less than your bare bones box of shit. Now, quit with your stupid "i already said this" and learn some basic math.

As for comparing keyhole to spotlight, i am sure you are mistaken, because mac does not have a built in function to view landsat images of the earth, and map them onto a 3d plane so you can find your house from space. And bit torrent sucks donkey balls, so I dont mind if you have that.

I did not once use the word processor in there.

secondly, who said that $4,500 was the base price, that's still with the internal add-ons, the real base price is $2,870, maybe you should learn some math, because last time I checked, $2,870 was less than $3,802

and as for keyhole, who cares, that is a stupid program, if you were to use a p2p network for all your software, what makes you think someone would pay for that useless program? And if you think constantly posting these easily countered arguments will annoy me into submission, might I remind you billbobjoe198 and nuklear are my brothers?

Jesus so stupidity runs rampant through the family? I assume you're talking about the Power Mac g4, which is the only one I found at $2870. The best G5 is $3,000 and still only has dual 2.5's, and only 512mb of ram! what the fuck are you going to do with 512!? And it's SDRAM, why they havent switched to DDR is a mistery.

Then: "JP, you did notice it's DUAL 2.5 ghz"
Now: "I did not once use the word processor in there. "

What the fuck did you think you were talking about? How much shit is in there? Dual 2.5 refers to processors.

Now, lets look at my post and start subtracting:
- ram, -$1603, and I still have the GB that came with it
-the $999 projector

For a dual 3.4 P4 with a gig of ram, 500gb RAID 0 dual mirrordrives, cdrw dvd/rw usb 2.0 firewire, media card slots, it costs $1509, which is $1361 less than your machine, has a DVD burner, has 420GB more space, and has a better graphics card. Your machine only has dual 1 GHZ (the $2,870) compared to the dual 3.4's. Now if you want to compare it to the latest G5, they still only have 2.5 and 512mg ram...

jesus I cant wait to see what stupid reasoning you come up with next.

in my experience, 2 years of college and a bit of uni consisting of lots of video and image work with hints of audio stuff, where we have top of the line PC's and macs ive found macs to be a lot more reliable and seecure. but ive said this for too long now already. but obviously im wrong because there can be nothing other than PCs

EDIT: um wow everything just changed, one of my lectures just brought in a 30" cinema display (made by Apple) and ive just sampled GarageBand and Logic. jesus... anyone wana buy my laptop?

Quit tooting your own horn, you obviously are not an expert in computing, but a diehard mac idiot. Your two years don't count for shit, could your argument be any more vague? You know why you keep repeating yourself? Because it's bullshit and you have to trick yourself into beleiving it. the 30" displays work for PC's, and Windows has a ton of music production apps, instead of just two. Macs are not more reliable, not more secure, but they do run slower, and they do cost more. can you douches pull your heads out of your asses long enough to give me a real argument? I don't think so, because when it comes to the PC/Mac debate, PC's have total dominance.

the apple monitors (specifically the 30" one) have some ADC connector which requires a graphics card manufactured only for mac because the resolution is so high it needs some uber-power card. come to think of it the 30" model needs 2.

hey im repeating because everyone else is. spot the cycle?

Mac sucks *says the fool
actually they have thier place *says the level headed person
repeat and rinse.

dont get me wrong i like PC's too. they have thier place, be they ugly cheap feeling things...i still use them for FTP, MMF, anything online usually. and they do make good servers for home networks. but im not gonna sit down and listen to closed minded idiots who rave about how good one thing is and instantly dismissing anything else that fares to stand next to it and have the balls to be sucessful in a monopoly like industry.

heh and i know my fair share of computer crap, been using one since Junior 2 (whats that? 8 i think? makes it 11 years ive been using the beige box). i build them, i help out in a computer shop, who gave me a free years training at Xenon (where pros go). i know my stuff matey so dont give me bullshit about not being an expert. i may not be able to build a computer from sand but i can assemble with my eyes shut and do what needs to be done to work in a small computer shop that cater to a number of major british airports thank you

now i rest

30" flat panel monitor? Why do you need something THAT big? And more importantly, where are you going to fit it without taking over your kitchen...
