Those british bastards get to have all the clicky fun. I get jealous every time I see these lovely conventions I'll never be able to attend, nor will many Aussie clickers. And I gather there's quite a few of us.

So, I figure, maybe it's time we organised our own 'convention' (read: piss up with laptops). We're unfortunately not particularly well clustered, geographically, so I'm interested in knowing three things:

- Are you interested in attending? If so, are you:
a) just kinda-interested
b) pretty much guaranteed to attend if it's in your area
c) willing to travel if it's not nearby (Perth people are screwed no matter what)

- How old are you? If everyone's >18, we can get some kegs. If almost nobody is, we'll have to focus more on wholesome events like sharing ideas or whatever. If it's 50:50... well, if one person at a party is 18, so's everyone else.

- Where are you? Location & state.

If there's sufficient interest, maybe we can pull something together in a month or two.

Actually my wife has not desire to travel to Europe. Australia however would be different.

So lets see: I guess I would have to answer with "A" at this point. This could change if the event were large enough.

I have no laptop, and really no intention to hang around with people and talk about games, but I like your mention of piss up. So you have my interest. And naturally i'm over 18, not that it'd stop me.

But yeah, i'm a Sydney boy. And i'm pretty familiar with the whole meeting up with people from internet forums to have drinks or whatever. So yeah.
If we can get a number of over 18 folks within the right location and transportation means we could meet up at bar somewhere. Of course i'd recommend Sydney, mainly because it's the hub of pretty much everything in Australia.

I'm up for the idea.

Yeah, I'm hoping Sydney. Anyone with any suggestions for what they'd like to see at an event like this, or anything they can offer, or organisational abilities of theirs, let me know (There'll be alcohol involved no matter what, be it during or after the meet. Possibly both if you happen to be me). Just meeting at a bar would be great, but I'd really like something productive to come out of it as well.

Ah carn Hamish...it's only a trip over the Tasman...not far at all.

But yeah, as far as places for 'productive' meetings of peoples go i'm seriously not really sure where you'd find this place. Really depends on the size of the group. You could very well have it at someones place, as wierd as that may seem. Although I wouldn't recommend my place seeming though it's like an hour out of the CBD of Sydney.

To be honest it would really depend on what kind of meeting we are talkin about here. A social outing would be less hassels and way easier to organise. But you wouldn't get to really see all of the doings of other members, unless they were handing out CD's or whatever.

I'm pretty sure there's a number of reasonbly local members here around Sydney and it's outskirts. SC being the most well known of which.

Have fun with your mini un-official convention, I mean, I'd go but the UK click convention was in my town (Hemel) and I still couldn't be arsed to go, let alone Australia.

Queenslandian! Brisbanian! Yay for Australia! And I agree, those British bastards and their fun!

a)

Depends, I'm not that interested. Tell you what, I'm not going to travel to Sydney for it. Oh well! Probably wouldn't even go to Brisbane for it! [face_im_so_lazy_eh?]

Yeah, that's just getting funnier and funnier. Let's get every single non-aussie on the boards to post in this thread and we'll all die of laughter together.
