i posted roms and emulators until i found out i was posting warez, admins didnt have a prob., i guess thats the dumbest thing i did when i was a newbie.
Well in 1994 using KNP (err I think it was 1994) the FIRST day I got KNP from my uncle, I made a crappy game using all lib gfx.. well I placed the GFX on the screen anyway then I found the run menu option and wondered why I couldn't do anything in my game!
Then after playing with that for a few hours (I added the default platform movement to my main character, bouncing ball to the enmies, after reading the manual lol becuase I still didnt have acess to the internet.... oh yeah and after adding more libs becuase I thought they made the game look cooler ) I then was running into the big problem of why my character fell through the platforms I thought it was a bug so after reading more of the manual, I read about the step through editor and eventually got a default platform movement guy walking around on lib platforms .
then I think a week later I had my first (but really crappy) game called kroz23123 or so (I am working on the theroy I just randomly typed a name into the save game dialog ), that was the worst piece of crap I think that has ever been made with a click product .
Ah the good old days .
One really noob thought I remember having is opening the game Romeo in KNP and wondering how the devil shot the pies at you!
I'm still a newbie here, even though I've been a member 2 years :/
Anyways, my most n00bish thing is probably when I wanted to post screenshots of my game (not at this forum), so I signed up for a free private file storage account (not understanding what private meant). I then posted a topic with the URLs of the images (which were clearly temporary). When people said they just got red x's, I accused them of hacking my account and deleting the images.
I nominate Brandon's latest newbie moment - stealing my avatar, WHICH I HAVE CONTROL TO! So now I've changed it and made him look like an idiot. HAR HAR HAR
