I've seen some really good pixel art done in MSpaint, I had a movie of that dude from blackeye software drawing an awesome monster sprite in it, he did it pretty fast too.
I use the tgf editor for my pixel graphics though.
hmz ... i tried that graphicsgale thingy which a user mentioned ... but it is simillar to paint it .... but still i can try to make some good graphics from it ... can anybody know any tutorials for the product?

ok .. i have changed my decision again .. i learnt all the basic steps of programming but i found that it is better to use those stupid clickteam products to make these 2d games. .. they are easier

AHAHAHA. games with vb. I mean, ... good place to start. But yeah, for games its much easier to use clickteam products. But later on, if you want to get into some hardcore programming learn basic C++ and then uh.. SDL or something.
For graphics I use MMF's built-in editor (It's WAY better than TGF's), and Paint Shop Pro 8. PSP has some funky stuff like drawing with vectors, and the background remover. I use it all the time.

" pretty obvious that all you use is Paint. In order to achieve anything really good, you're going to need a versitle graphics package"
LMAO, it depends on the user not the program, anyway Photoshop basically does everything for you and paint rules over its bitch ass.
Unless of course you want to do anything with multiple layers, ink effects, more than 100 or so colors, etc. . . If all you're doing is sprite-work and pixel art, I suppose you COULD use Paint, but it shouldn't be some mark of pride or something that you use the least powerful tools. That'd be like saying "Oh... you use the microwave to cook your meal using store bought food. Real men hunt down a cow with a pointed stick then cook it over a flame with their bare hands; you pussy." Sure, you CAN use primitive tools (ie Paint), but why, when you have the Microwave (Photoshop)?
I resent the MS Paint comment about it not being able to produce "anything good". It depends on who's using it. I think it's easily the best, most simple, and most stable tool for making original, quality sprites. I use Photoshop on rare occasions for large backgrounds, but most of the time I just use MS Paint for everything because using programs like Photoshop give me the feeling that it's not my own work, especially if you use anything from the Effects menu. I'm not alone either, some of the most professional Klikkers out there swear by MS Paint, including but not limited to ZeroTau of FAInd fame.
[EDIT] Multiple layers is definately a handy tool, but I only use it with images pre-made in Paint anyway
1. Paint DOES have every bloody colour you can dream of, Doubl-Click on a colour, a dialog box will come up, click "Define custom colours" is it just me or is that alot more then a 100 colours
2. as Rick said, most professional clickers use MS-paint and swear by it.
i myself dont really like MS-Paint that much, i prefer to use MMF to pixel.
The reason most of us paint users use 'paint' is because it allows us the work with pixels really well. Filters and layers with transparency and blur effects don't really look that good if you are trying to emulate a console era game. I mean, how many games on the SNES did you see with burn and smudge tools used to make the graphics? none. they were all created using a simple program, such as what paint is.
