One thing I've noticed about the MMF interface is that it's... very un-user friendly. It's probably what demoralised me from most of my projects.

Well, it's not the ugly buttons or menus or anything. It's the way... everything works. So the questions are...

1. Is it possible to... limit the size of certain events in the event editor? My conditions consist of very long formulas (some up to 3 lines) and sometimes there's two or more of them in an event. So... it gets really, really long and messy. Any way I can just hide the formula or something? Yes, I've tried groups, but they still don't help when one event already fills up a quarter of the screen.

2. Is it possible to COMPLETELY hide stuff (especially strings) in the um.. level editor or whatever you call it? I mean, I don't want an icon reprenting it, I just want it to go away. If not, is there a practical way of making several layers of invisible stuff on the screen? For example, when you're making an um... Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights style character creation thing in only ONE frame.

I'd prefer not changing the alterable string too often, if it's possible. Or using several different 'paragraphs' as it's technically called. You know, good old 'strings everywhere' style without the mess that comes with it.

Oh, and two more questions:
1. Is it possible to make the string text 'align to middle' like in KNP?
2. What were the shortcuts for the stuff(eg. pencil, paint) in the picture editor again? I remember Shen mentioning it once, but I forgot what it was.

Some shortcuts: Shift+Click on a color to make it your transparency color
On the hot spot or action point: Use the numpad to set where it is e.g. numpad 5 centers the point, numpad 1 puts it in the lower left corner, etc.

Aligning the string in the middle: Right click on the string, scroll down to the "Align" part, keep moving, align horizontal position to center, align vertical position to center.

The MMF interface is like anything else, it needs to be learned. The only reason some people don't like it is cos it's so different to TGF which is a similar program and therfore people don't want to learn a different interface for a similar program.

I was the same at first, cos I started off on KNP, then worked up to TGF, and then MMF was such a difference I was daunted. I started to use MMF to add things to games TGF couldn't do, then finally I made the full transition and now everything's peachy and I hum a jaunty tune while using MMF.

If your formulae are that long, there should be a better way of doing it.
And you can change text alignment on the Text menu bar.
I can't remember the shortcuts offhand, try them all or something.

To completly hide stuff, just click the cross in the sub-window of it.

The text alignment/anything alignment is on the side bar. You can also set it to the top, bottom and all sorts of stuff.

About the strings thing... Shen understood what I meant. Thanks anyway, guys. LOL, never noticed the Text menu before.

Assault Andy:
You mean that cross at the top left? It hides stuff, but I don't think it'll really help when I'm trying to put things it. I need something like... a layer/group of completely invisible stuff. You know, so I could put something over something else without having the other thing 'pretending to be invisible' in the level editor.

Shen:
I could try to make an editor for the formulae, but that's impractical when all I need is just one frame full of that specific stuff. And making editors uses even longer formulae. Right now, I just need something to make the conditions shorter or limit em to just a line or something so that I can copy & paste events easier.

Soz. I didn't read that whole thing. You can lock objects, which makes them unclickable, then you can set thier transparenty to 100% while you don't need them.

Muz, you can set the zoom level in the event editor so you can see more. It is in the upper left.

Hmm... zoom level... that could be useful. Thanks.

So, Andy, um... how do you lock stuff? And is it possible to mass set transparency... you know, without doing it one-by-one? And if I set the transparency to 100%, would it be invisible in the game as well?

muz just select all the objects that you want to change. and if its 100% transparency it should be invisible in the game

Hmm.. the mass choosing thing doesn't seem to work. At least not in MMF 1.2 :|. But thanks anyway... I realised that grabbing a lot of stuff and moving it to the gray part of the level works about as well .

I use TGF. I could easily afford MMF, but I started with Klik & Play and I could never adapt to the drastic change in interface.

MMF's 10000 object limit turn me on. Sure, it's less than an infinite object limit, but still beats TGF's 256.

They really should make a TGF 2.
