Decided Id get one eventually anyway, so made the investment. Having tried them out first, I personally find the 3D works a lot better for some games than others. Pilotwings Resort was blurry sometimes, being faster paced and all over the place. It was also blurry around the edges, and I found myself trying to re-focus on the game several times. Nintendogs seemed a lot easier on the eye, being slow paced of course. The 3D also seems as I heard, in a box, more than popping out of the screen.

Edit: The Augmented Reality features seem really cool so far, can see this being used in a lot of games

I tried one a while ago and it was awful trying to get used to the 3D effect. Perhaps over time (I'd like to think so) it would get easier. I'll probably get a 3DS just because that's where the new games will be.

It really varies for me. Nintendogs and 3D photos etc seem fine, but fast moving things seem a little harder to get used to. Just realised the AR Game cards do more than I realised

I love the 3DS from top to bottom, it seems like it has so much to offer and I was so close to deciding on putting money aside to get one when it's released here... but that 3-5 hour battery life just kills it for me. I'll wait for either an updated device or a good replaceable battery comes along. Pity, I was excited too.

Also, considering the life on the PSP I'm going to assume that the NGP is going to be just as bad if not worse. Man, I really wish battery tech would improve as fast as everything else in hardware tech... or at the very least, engineers could try to be more efficient or reasonable about what kind of technology they put into a device that's supposed to be handheld and mobile - not tethered to an outlet, defeating the whole purpose for me.

I may not like Apple or any of their products (for a long list of reasons) but the iPad 2 shows the world exactly how you're supposed to upgrade a device. Twice as powerful, no impact on battery life.

I have a DS and that was great, it also had many great 2D games. I am not sure about the 3DS just yet though because i usually buy a console/handheld when it has a better range of games but i am sure this will happen and even with the 3D technology hopefully there will be a lot of standard 2D games also. Some 2D games would be cool with the 3d technology used for things like parallax layer scrolling also.

One thing i want Nintendo to do is more non-remake games for the popular series as it would be great to have some new Zelda, Metroid (2D) and Mario games.

Why do people constantly whine about a 3-5 hour battery life? You can't tell me you have enough time to play for that amount of time when you're not home and can't bring a charger with you. Nintendo was supposed to release a battery pak (at launch?) that had twice the lifespan anyway . . . what happened to that?

People whine because:

1 You are a stupid knobface

2 Unlike you, many people actually get away from home sometimes. I mostly used my GB/GBC/GBA/DS when I was on the move. Meaning on the road or on some mountain.

Hayo: Exploring the fjords, playing his DS . When you say on the road do you mean in a car?

The only thing there is to do here is shop for clothes and junk or visit one of two horrible, tiny arcades. I'd rather not waste my time, especially considering that the arcades don't even have the game I play and I own a dedicated cabinet for it.

For anyone curious, the 3DS supposedly has a 1300 mAh battery. Here are some possible alternatives.

Either in a car (charger in use by GPS ), on a bike or on foot.
