There is no answer.

You're all looking at it as if the question already has a numerical answer, and you are trying to pick it. Truth is, the true probability of picking a "25%" answer is 1/2 and the probability of getting the "50%" or the "0%" answer is 1/4, the "number" given in those choices does not correspond to anything. It becomes clearer if you replace the answers "25%" and "50%" with any other random number, or even a piece of text, as they are red herrings. If I say "What's the probability of picking the answer to this question at random?" and give the answers A. Cow B. Chicken C. 0% D. Frog - it still makes as much logical sense as the original question. The existence of the 0% answer makes the whole thing invalid.

Sorry if this is reviving an old topic, but I only just now seen this so it's new to me and ....
You're all wrong ... so very very wrong. And so very very right too ... yes you're right no matter what you picked.

The probability of picking the right answer to this question at random IS (drum roll) ... 100 percent.
Yes, that's right .. it's 100 percent chance of a random pick ... whether you've come to the conclusion through some logical means that you've worked out or just guessed, it's a 100 percent chance that it will be random because there is no question that requires an answer.

But since there is no 100 percent option ... you could look at it another way and say 50 percent because half will choose probably choose randomly, and half will choose by the use of some logic system. Of course, that logic system is still based upon a random thought using the base of all your knowledge as a part in the random number generation formula.

100 percent chance of a random right answer because every answer can be right if looked at in the right way.

100% is the answer.

There are no correct answers. It's an illogical question.

Assume 0% is the correct answer to the question, then it's a contradiction because there would indeed be a 25% chance of picking C at random.

Assume 25% is the correct answer to the question, then it's a contradiction because there would be a 50% chance of picking A or D at random.

Assume 50% is the correct answer to the question, then it's a contradiction because there would only be a 25% chance of picking B at random.

(It can't be 100% because 100% is not a choice. There is a 0% chance of of picking 100% as an answer, which contradicts your claim that it is actually 100%. The answer is defined in terms of the question, and there are no configurations that don't contradict themselves).

Um, no. Just because it is a 100% chance of a random pick, doesn't mean that you have a 100% chance of getting it right at random, because one doesn't necessitate the other. You could pick an answer randomly and get it wrong. The part I bolded doesn't address the question.

No, because the question says "the" right answer, without using /s at the end of the word answer. As said, 0% likely wouldn't be correct because to choose one randomly should statistically give it as much chance as any other answer and if it were correct it would contradict that. A and D are the same so one couldn't be more correct than the other, and that's all I have to say on this.

this is like one of those retarded "find the error" questions where the answer ends up being the irrelevant grammar errors in the question itself and has nothing to do with the arbitrary numbers in the example provided.

Assuming you are asking the question to a human, the answer is 0%. It is not possible for a human to pick a number at random. There is always some reason behind the choices we make, whether we understand them or not.

It's just a variant of the classic paradox, I'm afraid. But peoples' theories and (flawed?) reasoning are always much more interesting than the answer. If an answer were to be made, it'd be

A. "B"
B. "A"

Does this signal the end?

I do hope so.

I mean NO. >=D

Three Clickers A, B and C are called, in some order, True, Untrue and Random. True always speaks truly, Untrue always speaks falsely, but whether Random speaks truly or falsely is a completely random matter. Your task is to determine the identities of A, B and C by asking three yes-no questions; each question must be put to exactly one Clicker. You choose the questions; any that you'd like. The Clickers understand English, but will answer all questions in their own fictional language, in which the words for 'yes' and 'no' are 'boo' and 'bah', in some order. You don't know which word means which.

*It could be that some Clicker gets asked more than one question.
*What the second question is, and to which Clicker it's put, may depend on the answer to the first question.
*Whether Random speaks truly or not should be thought of as depending on the flip of a coin hidden in his brain: if the coin comes down heads, he speaks truly; if tails, falsely.
*Random will answer 'da' or 'ja' when asked any yes-no question.

Aim for the three questions, but be aware that it is possible to solve the problem in two questions (very tricky indeed).

There IS a real answer and I've finally figured out the riddle.

It's C.) 0%

There's a 0% chance of picking the right answer to this question at random!
Because the answer is to think about the question and not be random!
So if you're just randomly picking something, then you're wrong!
