I have to agree after downloading (and I think completing) the demo. It seems to make an indie game now you have to make either something abstract or referencing pop culture.
SFXR sounds, heh. Seems that everyone uses that!

Yea, one of the reasons I dislike the Indie moniker. Abstract games are cool, but sometimes it just gets old. Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.
I hate it when you edit grammar and it looks like you added an afterthought onto your post.
Wow! ... Dust looks great! ... Now that's the kind of graphics that I need for my 2.5d beatemup game!
That Mega Man game looks more like they used a 3d engine and just set it up for platform rotations. So technically, it should probably be called 3d side view Mega Man or something. I could be wrong though.
Btw, someone could probably make a 2.5d MegaMan with my engine. All they'd really need to do is add some positional code to change animations of the platforms based upon x and y values, and add some extra animations and code for it. (replace my character with a MegaMan if you do that though please)
Hmmm ... really, come to think of it ... you wouldn't even need my engine for that. I just thought up a 3rd method for 2.5d thanks to that 2.5d MegaMan video!
Thank You for posting that! Dang, now I want to figure out that new method. It's so ... different .. sort of like an active and animation switching grid/matrix/array or something of that nature.
That Shadow game, while being cool for sure, does not impress me much. I bet they are using a 3d engine. It's much easier to create that sort of thing with a 3d code foundation already in place. Now, if they built the engine themselves ... which I doubt .. well if they did, then I'd be impressed. Most likely they built the game upon an existing engine though, as most the smart people do. I'm just too stupid and stubborn, so I make my own engines and never end up getting any games made ... heh.
If it's even remotely possible, one day I'll create a good looking 3d engine with no extensions in TGF1. (rough looking and/or pixelated ones have been done already)
You know why I'd like to do that? ... well, because if I could do that, then I could do virtually anything! It would mean complete mastery over TGF1, and I'd easily be able to learn pretty much any language. All languages are simply just Logic. It's all about the Logic. Of course you do realise that I'm insane right?
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
And some others. But I just keep those two on my HDD, no need to play any others
