It wasn't so much the shooter thing that was cool as it was the massive amount of players. Being a team leader is a pain in the butt and that's why RTS's get a bit old to me, since assigning objectives takes away from the fun of spontaneously exploding things as you go. I really only like the occasional round of Halo or CoD and a playthrough of Metroid Prime when it comes to FPS's. It was still cool, but one of the many games I'd almost rather watch other people play than play myself.

At least the main two presenters for Sony weren't too awfully cheesy.

Oh god yes the dynamic between Reggie and that other bloke playing Wii Sports Resort was terrible. "How did you know I'd say that?"... because you planned it? Cringeworthy stuff.

Yes. I think they were attempting a joke there (there was a winkwink) but it wasn't worthy of laughter. Reggie himself and even the others aren't so bad, but when you get them all together... :\ I just wish they'd ditch the cutesy cheeseball and show us awesomeness. (Because you cannot deny, Reggie is awesomeness.)

At least nintendo people don't pause and say "Yea" and start clapping when they mention something mildly interesting. That seems so forced. >.<

http://wii.ign.com/articles/992/992063p1.html How very anti-climactic. It's not nearly as epic as I was hoping. He doesn't look that much older like they said, and TP's looked more awesome.

Looks like they're still harping the "looney tunes" art style for zelda that they've been doing with everything since windwaker; look at the (presumably) female in front of link. Clearly along the same lines as the terrible "twilight" effects in twilight princess, instead of the naturalistic OOT path sort of thing. And those zelda games really would have been a ton better if they got rid of those extraneous elements.

maybe I'm just too old now. Back when the old zelda games were done in what was effectively the western style of graphics, whereas now its re-japanifying, the whole anime effect on everything. Besides irritating me on principle, the real loss is immersion, since you kind of kill the suspension of disbelief when you have crap like this in your game:
Image

was especially bad in TP since they worked so hard with the wii controls & feedback to make it feel immersive
look at OOT, where the most whacked out thing at all was that Bongo Bongo boss. And thats far removed from anything at all you'd see in modern zelda titles. Track back as far as LTTP, and theres not a single element of the game that stands out like that (one of the reasons LTTP is verifiably the most well made game of all time)

That could be because it was one of the first Zelda titles you played. Links Awakening was my first and I skipped LTTP until years later with the GBA remake (never had a SNES), but I'm not seeing one of the best games made with that. Infact nothing is pushing me to complete it unlike what I had with OoT and TP (Majoras Mask had the same effect on me as LTTP).

The art style doesn't detract any from the overall experience. The proportions are a bit exaggerated sure, but its within the boundaries of caricature and in some cases humour. Besides that style never hindered FFVII, Windwaker or the DS Final Fantasy's from being figgin brilliant games.

ps. sorry if some letters are missing. I'm using a funny keyboard.

I had real trouble trying to like the last couple of Zelda games. Like Pixelthief I think LTTP is one of the best games ever made (with Links awakening as second best), and loved every Zelda up to the Windwaker, except Majora's mask. Minish Cap was fun, kind of weird and very short, TP doesn't feel like Zelda to me and I gave up with the Phantom hourglass after a few hours.

Wind Waker is by far the best graphical style they've achieved so far.

Yeah, to me the Windwaker graphics looked like a 3D version of the SNES graphics.

I like the windwaker graphics, it looked like it was made from vector art turned 3d :3.
I also like all the old graphics, from the gameboy games, and snes.
I even like the original NES graphics.

Im not complaining about the new ones though!

Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.

I like all of the 3D art styles they've had so far. I gave up on Majora's Mask because I only have 2 minutes to defeat the giant fish and I don't wanna redo the dungeon. I hate the time mechanic in that game.

At any rate, as long as I get my 3D zelda game, I don't care. I've loved all of the newest iterations and their art styles.

That figure in front of Link is almost certainly the Master Sword.

I was thinking something along the same lines, because of the jewel and the coloring. Shape-shifting mabob? Would be a nice metaphor for using the wiimote as a sword. Perhaps that thing IS all of the items in the game.

As long as there is no wolf in the new one I should be happy.

This what he said last year:

When asked about innovating within existing franchises, Miyamoto was surprisingly critical. "What I've been saying to our development teams recently is that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was not a bad game, by any means. But, still, it felt like there was something missing," he said. "And while, personally, I feel like Super Mario Galaxy was able to do some things that were very unique, at the same time, from another perspective, certain elements of it do feel somewhat conservative." He commented, "this is something I've been talking to both of those teams about," and that "hopefully [the next Mario and Zelda] will feel newer and fresher than their most recent versions."

So hopefully this new zelda will be good.
