Hi all,

I don't suppose anybody remembers me - but I've been clicking for many years. In the past 5 years, I've concentrated on making really big projects that I actually finish. My first big finished platformer (Flocking Hell - can be found on this website) had so many errors even though I drew all the animations myself in my own style. By errors I mean gameplay. I was still using the Games Factory platform movement and collison detection!!

I started a followup game, "Get Flocked". It was meant to be released in Sept 2007 but i halted working on he game a few months eariler and haven't touched in since. I basically had all the attacks, physics (of my own) and bad guys worked out (except the two most complicated of my level eneimes which still had frustrating bugs). After that it was only level design and creation. The fun part.

However now all the many hours of work (months) drawing sprites and programming and problem solving seem wasted as I'd really like to start on something ompletely new.

That ever happen to you?

Happens to me. Usually I just take a long break. I haven't really worked on anything minus Splotches in a long time.

most things i scrap while i'm actually making them cause i get bored. anything worth continuing i still have and am always working on. but i always come back to them. even if i end up starting from scratch. thats one of the reasons i havent released many finished games.

i recently re evaluated all my projects and am working on them in order of how much i want to do them . compos also distract me from my main work

I used to stop working on big projects but they were mostly flawed. Now I'm just better at picking the best ideas and games to run with rather than spending months on them going nowhere
Nothing distracts me once I'm going though. I've been working on my current project every day for 2 years. Even without the events of summer last year I'd still be working flat out on it 'cuz it's just a fun thing to do

Nah, I'm still working on the same project I did 4 years ago. And it was essentially an improvement to my first game that went too far. Took two 1-year breaks from it, though.

But I did try to resurrect an old project. The new code is much, much, much better, but I just couldn't put my heart into it because I forgot what it was all about.
