Wait, doesn't Noitu Love 2 use a mouse? How are you able to control it through the arcade set up? Are you using a trackball?

It's Sad to see a perfectly good Simpsons Arcade Macine get abused, abducted, anally probed, dropped in the wilderness, and mauled to death by rabid wolverines.

But all jokingly seriousnessisocity aside, eerrrmmmm ... Why didn't you just build a new cabinet from scratch ? ... Aren't those old Machines worth anything anymore ? .. You could have sold it to someone, but then they would have probably destroyed it and ruined it anyways, and you'd have alot more work to do.

At least you are using it for something interesting and innovative.

No, really though, Real Arcade Machines are dying and we can't stop it anyway. Now the machines have to be DDR or snowboarding or something where you need to physically interact using your feet and weight displacement instead of your hands, to be newly built. Old school arcade games RIP friends.

Pretty soon, it will be like on Back to the Future (was it II ?) where the girl doesn't know how to play a gun game, and Marty shows her, and she says eww that's a baby game, you have to use your hands.

* Sorry for the rambling, I tend to do that sometimes. KEEP UP the GOOD WORK Jason ! ... You should build more of them and sell the machines to whatever arcades that haven't yet gone extinct. Talk to ClickTeam and see if they'll hire you to do that ! ... the site could be advertised on the machines, and people would see just how professional games can be when created with ClickTeam products. *

Convince 'em dude, I'd like to see one the next time I visit Las Vegas (I know there's arcades there still) ....

You have the skills ... so why not ?

Good Luck !

Haha, first of all, MBK, in back to the future 2 that wasn't a girl, it was Elijah Wood.

Anyway, what setup do you have going on there in the screen in those pics. Is that an all in one emulator so you can play arcade games, genesis, etc.?? Can you get it to load from startup and pick games with the joystick? If you can't tell I'm wanting to do something similar where I can just turn it on, pick Sonic 2 or Mario Kart and just play.

Its a frontend program called MameWah.
I alter the config files so it knows the rom directory and what emulator to use. You can toggle through each console using the joystick and select games via the buttons.
When wish to play a different game I simply press player 1 & 2 start buttons together and it takes me back to the game select screen.

See this video I made (still using a keyboard in this one though).

Mamewah boots straight up from when the computer is turned on, so no windows loading screens. This can simply be done using the startup folder, or for more advanced users, using Shells.

It's already sounding more complicated then anything I'd be able to figure out. I'll still have to look into it though. I've got 2 computers sittin around doing nothing and an empty arcade cabinet. I've already got the pc to tv hookups too so I'd just have to buy the arcade stick.

I actually built a custom cocktail cabinet running MameWAH w/4 joysticks and scratch-built computer. I'll try to post some pics if I get my camera working.

But I have a question for Jason:
Have you been able to load a list of click games through mamewah? I haven't really tried, but do you think it's possible?

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Indeed I have, the trick is to link the shortcuts (.lnk) to create a list.

I'm going to start work using a different frontend later today, I will show some pics if I get it working. Should look really smart.

Brilliant!

When I saw those pictures, I felt a little nostalgic.
You did a great job!
I wish I could have one too.
It's not a problem of space or money, but I'm sure I won't be able to set the whole thing.

Too Sad

Done some more work on the machine
Got the Marquee I designed and ordered.
It now has 4 speakers and a sub (note the 2 additional speakers on the front).
The monitor has been brought forward.
The coin mech has been removed and a volume control is seen sticking out (that whole front panel will be replaced and just the volume nob will stick out)

This is the new game selection screen, the picture is actually a video, nearly every single game for every single emulator now has a sample video/screenshot
