Hold on this just made me think... I'm pretty sure that Princess Peach/Toadstool pronounces it as "Morio" in one of the games! But argh, I can't think which!
Edit: Could it be in the ending cut scene to Mario 64?

Since the guy that invented Mario is Japanese and most Mario games are in English, I think it's irrelevant to say there's only one pronunciation.
Regardless, I'm a romance-lagnuage speaker, and since Spanish is very similar in pronunciation to Italian, the way we say Mario is MA-REE-OH (making your tongue touch the back part of your teeth). And, by the way, Mario has only two syllables (MA-RIO), the tension resting in the first syllable MA.
Guru Rinpoche, It's actually spelled Aluminium.
USA is like the only country in the world that totally missed out the suffix -ium, probably because of a misspelling on a american flier back in 1892. Kind of funny
We swedes pronounce mario similar to the programmed cyborg in the video, except for a harder R.
The absolut correct pronounciation would probably be how Mario himself pronounce his name in the splash intro in Mario 64.
MAÄ RRRR IO.

It's not a review at all, she just says it's fun. And a load of other crap human beings cannot understand, which probably doesn't describe the game anyway. &&
