I was recently commissioned by my university's basketball pep band to arrange "Final Countdown." The instrumentation is:

1 Flute/Piccolo
2 Clarinet
2 Alto Sax
1 Tenor Sax
1 Bari Sax
3 Trumpet
1 Horn
2 Trombone
1 Baritone
1 Tuba
1 Electric Bass
1 Drumset

Timeouts in the basketball games are about 2 minutes, so I had to try to cram the song into under 2 minutes. I've managed it at about 1:35 or so. Here's a recording - some live instruments, some synthesized because not all of the band was available when we recorded it. (Cough cough trumpets)

Yeah, the percussion is real low in that, but we didn't have our drummer there, either. When it's performed live, we have a real drummer who plays out.

Augh, you just got those awful Mario/Sonic commercials stuck in my head. Unsure if the UK/US adverts are the same.

It's good and that, I just don't think it's got the same "umph" as the original?

Unfortunately, Europe had keytars to work with, and I only have woodwinds.

It's working on my end. Might be a Geoshitties problem.

Use Google Pages instead:
http://pages.google.com/

Much better than Geoshitties. They give you a lot of space (just like gmail). You can upload anything without worrying about it being taken down.

Actually, the geocities link works if you copy the link itself and paste it into the URL bar.

It sounds good, but synths have never been able to do a good trumpet sound, I know because I've tried very hard to use various VSTi synths to mimic one to no avail. If you had some live trumpets and if the rest of the band was there, this would have sounded a lot better. But other than that, it's pretty good... just the synths don't sound right, which isn't your fault, it's just because synth instruments can't reproduce the correct sound for certain instruments, brass especially.

Edit: I would like to hear the live version of this. I'd like to see how this when played the way its supposed to sound with actual instruments playing it. Could you possibly record this while it's playing live? Maybe make a video and put it on youtube or record it and put it on an mp3 file.
