If you can help out in testing this engine, that would be so great!http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6376

So ask that in the download description itself! No need for posting a new topic about it in the forums...

There are far more people viewing the forums then people viewing or downloading the games.

No, I think those are basically the same. A lot of downloading people don't comment, though. They just download and play.

Yes, I would recommend on selecting a few people yourself, and emailing them requesting them to test it out, at least you know where you game/engine is at and second, by selecting people who you feel can be trusted, you will get more feedback, which is what I did on my current project.

I've got a number of dedicated testers already, they've been testing almost all of my games. But at times I like to have the opinion of a more general public first, so that's why I posted the engine here.

TDC used to be great for this, you would get many comments and people trying, but that seems to be much less these days.

well I had a really quick go on it, as Im busy working on my major project right now, and I found the controls ok actually maybe make it clearer what to do, and those gfx... more texture and make them blend? Maybe even some grass texture would make it a but nicer. Also one of the creatures was stood still in a walking pose, I presumed it was a very odd creature or it was frozen on the spot

I guess it depends on how you bring it. And who replies first. Sorry, I'll test to make up, lol.

DaVince, looking forward to your test results

Adam, thanks for the comments, they're quite helpful! Allow me to reply to all of your comments.....

Making clearer what to do? Perhaps you missed the game manual (pdf file) included? If you did not miss it, then I'll see how I can make it more clear.

As for the gfx, the idea was to create a comic shaded game, so no textures are used only colors. But the grass texture is a good idea, may even go with some rendered grass patches.

I've noticed the creatures also and I've got no clue what to do about it. When you see that, it's actually stuck in a collision. It's colliding with a background object, a filled cirlce around the buildings or mountain, which you cannot see. But at times the creature seems to get stuck in the background object.

Imo this is a bug in MMF2 and I've reported it on the CT forums, but no official reply yet.

Why not? It works well with Super Mario RPG, for example...

I'll test later, not feeling like playing a game now.

WELL OK CLEVER CLOGS, Its easily achievable but I dont feel its been achieved here much. The sprites just seem un-finished? Maybe outline them in black or look at some other comic-feature you could incorporate to make it more comic-like?

I'll think about it, not sure yet.

I've added grass and looks much better. I'll be uploading a new version tomorrow. It has some bugs fixed and visual improvements and part of the animal AI implemented.

I really have to agree with Adam, it doesn't look comic-ish at all. 3D graphics in a 2D game = no.

"I've noticed the creatures also and I've got no clue what to do about it. When you see that, it's actually stuck in a collision. Haha, no it's not a bug. Not at all. You have to uncheck "Inactive if too far from playfield" in the object's properties. And if that doesn't work, check "Handle background collisions even in invisible playfield" in the frame's properties.

(That's in TGF/MMF, but it should be the same in MMF2)
