"Where is lastibility? Quantity doesn't matter anymore? In that case, someone can make 1 level which last 5 minutes that contain fabulous graphics, programming, and such and get the same score as someone who can make an equally good games with 10 levels?

Oh and about gameplay, about the "is it easy to pick up and understand / play?" part. Well, some games can be very complicated but once you pick it up, it's extremely fun. What if someone makes an engine with lots of moves like wall jump and such? It shouldn't decrease the points for gameplay but instead increase the points for gameplay."

I was talking about engines, not gameplay. A very small part of what makes a good game.

I don't think Jamagic should ever be in TDC competitions. ALthough it is technicly a clickteam product, It doesn't operae in that kind of event-editor and active objects/backgrouund objects wat TGF and MMF does. In other words, it's a whole nother kinda program

Thanks for the reply Circy. I understand now.

Oh and Derek_Reaves, sorry if i offend you in any way but i wasn't commenting on your post. I was just complaining about the judging criteria (i still don't agree with the "programming" criteria but whatever).

If you have a pre-built game engine then yes you can use that if you want to (since engines are relatively easy and quick to make), but you cannot submit a modified game that you might have been working on in the last year. As I said to someone via DC-Mail, everyone else gets 4 weeks, so nobody should have a significant advantage.

but why they are not sound/music in the judging criteria ? it's as important as the graphics in a game...

Hi! This is my first post here, but I come The DC and check out games all the time. Theres always very cool stuff here. I'm entering the compo for sure! What an awesome prize! Who could resist?
I'm giving 100% on this one! With a prize like Fusion 2 Pro, I'm sure there will be some truly great entrys.
My mommy is helping me with my game, so you guys better watch out!

I've come back from the dead to make something for the compo. I posted this competition on a message board I hang around a lot nowadays, so some of the people I taught to use TGF there might join.

Phanoo: I would assume it's because applications don't need sound or music.
