CHRIS:
Sometimes you have to be thankful that graphics and sound are this games only true failings. Yes, it's a snowboarding game - the objective being to simply perform as many stunts as possible and get to the end of the games few (and very samey) levels. Stunts are performed with a combination of arrow keys and the A,S and D buttons but its far too easy to just button bash. The games engine is quite dodgy - the snowboarder is supposed to head to the right continually but often I found that by holding down certain key combinations he'd move leftwards instead! The graphics are terrible and there's just one sound effect, yet for all its issues I found FreeRider to be fun - in very small doses!

FLAVA:
This game was sort of a nice idea, but I don't think it was carried out particularly well. In terms of a challenge, there isn't any. You simply go through levels and are asked to perform tricks in order to gain the highest score. As far as I can tell, you can't fall off your board or anything. In fact, all I did through all of the levels was hold down the right arrow key and watch the score increase by 208 every time. I ended up with a score over 20000 just by doing that. It's a shame because it could have been a good game if carried out correctly. The grinds were a nice touch though. If the game had more of a challenge, in that you can fall off your board if you incorrectly perform a trick and your score goes up based on how well you carried out a trick - this game would easily have gotten a higher score from me.

ASSAULT ANDY:
Graphics - besides the fact that the player is too small to see what trick he is doing, the rest of the graphics look like placeholders rather than graphics for a finished game. The colour palette is insane - Aqua, Purple, Lime Green? Some basic colour theory should be applied here. Audio - The only sound effect in this game is the 'bump' sound of edit boxes which comes from dodgy coding. Winter Theme - There's snow and mountains. The snow flakes are probably the most detailed graphics in the game. Gameplay - I did not find this game fun to play at all. All I have to do is hold a flip button and a direction button when I am in the air. I can't even see anything because the character is so small. The only kick I get is watching my score go up, but what is score good for? Seriously, to the author of this game - Do you find this fun to play for more than 20 minutes? Nothing stops the player from grinding left on a bar and then jumping off and repeating. You could continually make your score go up forever. The game is lacking in goals, and not in a good way like The Sims. Programming - Free rider is riddle with glitches. The menu requires you to enter your name, an edit box has been used which you must click to get focus. The edit boxes cause random sound effects. When you press enter the edit box is disabled, making it grey. I don't know if that's a work around because of the focus or what, but it doesn't look that great. When the rider falls to the ground too fast he gets stuck in the ground for a small fraction of time. This would be due to ineffective use of fastloops or whatever method was used to keep the player above ground.
