Just discovered that all you have to do to use direct x in c&c is actually to set your windows display to 256 colors, if you set it to High color or True color modes Direct X won´t work, as simple as that.

Sorry guys, I though I had at least written my e-mail when calling myself What. (nice name though).

Well, I really doesn't care if the producer of Mold2 (whoever that is) spoils a few bytes on an AP logo, 'cos I'm downloading it now.

Chris <psychosoft@juno.com>

David & Josh: I have to slightly disagree with you. Rikus is probably very proud of being the publisher of Mold 2, and when he was boasting it, he was actually complimenting Andy Hull. Not his own work.

Wb, Marcello.

I am about to upload Net-Edit, the first App from PSI. It is a simple website editor / creator. It's un-protected, so you can muck it up all you want.

I'll have to agree with Josh on that. In my opinion, there have been only 4 AP games that I would consider of high quality (one of which was the Extacy), while almost all the others were fair to terrible, as my reviews will point out. Brian Su has put out 4 good-great games himself. That's a big accomplishment when you consider he has posted a total of about 6 games. It's cool to be proud of your games and all, but lets not get a big head. As most have noticed, it's the quiet and humble people that seem to turn out the best games.

Rikus, come again. Just because a game has the AP logo on it its of high quality? You seem to have been slowy growing an ego over the last year. Maybe you should take the AP logo off of some games you created. I will probably get flamed for this message, but Rikus let other people compliment your ego don't feed it yourself.

Stig, (at least, I THINK that's who wrote that message under WHAT???)

AP is a "big-fish" company (hehehe... remember that flamewar PusRo?) that has published a LOT of games... more people will download a game endorsed by AP than a stand-alone from Andy, at least after the Ducky Runk incident... (no offense Andy!) Also, AP can join efforts with Andy (ie betatesting... others can sometimes spot bugs immediately that weren't apparent to the creator) and, if Mold 2 is to be shareware, AP can make cute cardboard boxes and pay for disks etc, something Andy on his own might not have the equipment, time, or patience to do ;)

You have probably read about game #19 on my homepage. It was a Bomberman style game where I had some trouble of creating true bomberman style expanding explotions (something no knp/tgf/C&C Bomberman game released even tried to do). That was at least a year ago and when I looked at it a few days ago I easely solved the problem. Mail me if you want a demo of how its done (must have TGF or C&C) but that's all it is, it's not even remotley fun/playable/nice looking.

WHAT??
- Wednesday, August 20, 1997 at 14:18:42 (CDT)

Why should AP publish any game. Every TGF/CnC has a save as stand-alone functions, so I really don't see why the producer can't advertise for himself instead of letting a lot of people think that AP is behind this game.

Hello, I just played mold 2 and i liked it so much that ap is
going to publish it, like we did with The Extacy. We only do this when we think this game is going to be a classic. If a game has the ap logo on it this means that the game is of hight quality,
Mold 2 has great graphics, great music and great gameplay,
i will be beta testing it myself so there will be no bugs in it.

Mold 2 will be out soon and you can download it soon from the amazing productions page. Keep wathcing this space for more info on this game.

EVERYONE - IMPORTANT!!!!
I have conducted tests on the new vitalize, and have determined there is the possiblity for errors on some systems. If you receive the message "%s:Write Error" when installing, and after that you can run no or limited programs, then here is the way to correct it.
1. Shell to DOS, or boot up in DOS mode.
2. Type "SET"
3. Write down the line that says "TEMP={some directory}"
4. Type DEL {the directory in the line above}\*.TMP

If you'd like an explanation as to why this may happen, email me.

Christian: Yeah, I know, but it's the same thing. People here download C&C/TGF games right and left, and they launch without knowing anything is wrong with it, therfore it works the same way as vitalize.

Sprite & Rikus: Hmm. Well, It's not too late to change it. I just started on it, so I can change it. I wil;l have a mode that lets you control the fish though. And, if I can figure out Global Values, it'll have a store to buy fish, accessories, food (there will be a limit) and more. Man, this'll be cool. ;)

Hmm. Nothing else to say but come to #k&p

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

There is now an UPDATE available for VITALIZE, which eliminates the security issue that has recently been highlighted.

It is available form http://www.vitalize.co.uk

I would advise all VITALIZE users to download this latest version. This version has been tested and no problems have been reported.

I hope you will all continue to use Vitalize, as it is the best plug-in currently available on the net.

If you have any views comments or concerns you wish to share with me please do not hesitate to contact me:

Thanks a lot.

Chris@psychosoft: Yes, it CAN be done from any C&C/TGF app, but the app that does it must be SPECIFICALLY executed by the user. Vitalize loads automatically provided the plugin is installed.

I will be away for a while, I will have my laptop with me, but I don't know if I will have a phone line or not, so if you email me, you may not get a reply for a few days. :)

See you all in a few weeks ...

ChrisPSI : Dunno about you being the fish ... I kinda prefer you controlling the fish instead. You can have different kinds of fish, which prefer different environments (ex. one is messy, and likes to live in poop. You can twist it around like in Theme Hospital), or different foods (ex. peanut butter).

What else? Oh, welcome to Cellosoft, Cragmyre. :D

'ello 'vry one!

I have started work on Sim-Fish 2, in which YOU take the roll of the fish! Yes, you control your fishy via 8 direction movement, and you must swim around, feeding yourself, cleaning out your poop, and... having baby fish! Heh. Just don't let 'em eat your food. The fish you play will still age, and when you die, the program will randomly pick another fish on the screen. It will be scrolling, so it'll be 320x200 low res mode.

E-mail me if you have any ideas or comments. I'm open for anything.

CyberMuffin

Hello all,
hmm I do have a couple games coming out. SimCow, SimFlower, and SimPig. CyberMuffin is being delayed: lack of graphics and lack of music and sound. SimCow is a game where you start with a cow and you have to feed it and milk it. If you don't milk it it will explode. Hopefully Rsac will get around to warning you about the blood and gore of the exploding. SimFlower, You water it and watch it grow. A close parody to SimTower. You have a hollow flower and you need to add Flea Hotels and Aphid Fast Food places. SimPig is similar to SimCow. You have a pig and you have to feed it a certain amout each day. More of a guessing game then a Sim Game. if you feed it enough each day for 20 days you get more of the Gore. If you don;t feed it right it gets skinny and the platters of bacon and ham are just small peices that don't seem like ham. These games will be coming out soon. Plus i'm making The Stinky Socks game. You have to figure out puzzles and each time you do the guy gets the socks closer and closer to the trash. Too bad these computers don't support smells or you'd actully smell the socks. OH HOW PUTRID!!!
Well, so long and remember. If it's not Jiffy it won't be a muffin. So long people!!

Jeez. I think you're all naive. People could do the same exact think in a C&C/TGF game as in Vitalize. Just make a backup of each system file. Name 'em autoexec.fdh or something. Or yes, make them read only. It's just dumb that people are blaming vitalize when a C&C/TGF game could do the exact same thing. :P

Steven: (Not Sprite) You need to use a forward slash (/) instead of a backslash (\) for your homepage address.

Also, I thought I'd plug my attention deprived game, Elmo's Adventure, which has been available for download for quite some time. It is a PARALLAX SCROLLING game made with !!!K&P!!! and it's very smooth scrolling. You can tweak the engine if you want, but please, somebody download this PARALLAX SCROLLING game and let me know what you think.

Christian,

Hmm. Interesting can of worms... Of course, you can always make those files write-protected and the application will merely give an error, right?

What I'm doing now with Vitalize is keeping it inactive unless I personally know and trust the webpage owner. I think all of you people should do the same, AND make your system files read-only (and maybe system-hidden ;D)

Chris Craft <acesoftware@geocities.com>
Florence, South Carolina USA - Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at 10:13:36 (CDT)

I'll respect your decision to remove the Vitalize! security flaw
demonstator even though I'm not sure I agree with it. What's the
point anyway. It's not like that will make the problem go away.

The only thing I'm really worried about is that Corel and Europress
are not going to do this right. If it were me I would just have the
plug-in save all data in the browser's cahce directory. Both Internet
Explorer and Netscape limit the size of the cache, so that if a Vitalize!
application kept adding files the older files would be deleted first
so the hard drive could not be filled up. This would take care of
all of the problems with the security flaw. But what will Corel probably
do? They will release a new Vitalize! that doesn't include the Edit
Object, problem solved. Or they'll just disable the save file capability
which really is a nice feature. It makes Vitalize! worth something.

By the way, Christian I think now is a good time to mention to Corel
that you wouldn't mind being a beta-tester, hint, hint. If you haven't
already. They really should have offer that at the least. Netscape and
Microsoft both pay money for finding flaws.

Later,
Chris Craft

It's been quite a time since I have visited this wonderful site, and I must say that I am glad to see some constructive conversations going on here.

I have been pretty stagnate. The real world(yuck) sucked me in for a while, but I am back!

As I have stated I haven't done much on the computer, for the most part that is due to it being old and junky! However that will soon change, I am ordering a pent II 300 through Micron(on a discount through a relative whom works there.) it's gonna be pretty cool!

Well, I must go, I have certain real world subjects to deal with(school, etc). I shall return, sooner this time than before.

Hello everyone.

I've updated my site again. I just uploaded a near hacker-proof protection utility to use for pages you want to protect. All you need to do is enter the url, password, and then vitalize it, and it's ready to go. Now you can upload it and protect any pages you want so nobody can get in unless they have the password.

http://www.netline.com/psi/protect.zip

It's just a .cca file, so TGF and C&C people can open it up. Just leave everything the way it is, and add the password and the url.

Oh yes,
One thing I forgot to mention is this...

If you already have your game of fame up at your own site, or elsewhere, let us know the URL, and we'll do the work of downloading the game, and uploading the game to our server space. That way, everything is organized at our site, eliminating the need to jump from site to site. By the way, there is no megabyte limit, you may send in any game you want, and we'll put it up somewhere in our realm of unlimited space. Heck, if your game is 100 MBS, we'll begin uploading as early as today, to prepare for the Ausgust '99 release! :) Anyways, so that's all I have to say at this time, and we are hoping for the Majestic Realm to launch on September 1st.

Goodbye,

If you have a game that you would like to be featured at The Realm, let either me "Smets97@aol.com" or Ryan "RyanSPK@aol.com" know. HyperSpace: The Newest Games of the Realm, is the section where all recent submissions will be placed in. Complete with yuor own description, or one you'd like us to provide, we'll put it on the page for others to enjoy. One thing to note is that all games downloadable will feature a screen shot next to its description, and a link to the review if there is such one made. So send in your games, and we'll send them to HyperSpace. :)

Have a good week, everyone.

Opps, almost forgot. One more thing. If any of you are making an
Internet add-on for C&C then you might want to check out Wormhole.
It is a program with source by Microsoft that shows how to transfer a
file between two machines. Just add some code of your own and
you are almost there. I'm thinking about dropping everything else
I'm doing and looking into this myself. Just thought I'd share the

Oh yeah, and Stig - in order for the server to receive an INI (or any other data from a Vitalize app), you have to have a special custom-written CGI. I'm gonna work on one, for a high-scores page for the games on my homepage (when I get my server up). Anybody who wants some space for Vitalize apps that can use these, email me when my server's up.

Christian Wiehl
christianwiehl@geocities.com, - Monday, August 18, 1997 at 17:56:54 (CDT)

Chris (psychosoft Chris, not Craft):
Yes it is still a security flaw. What someone with C&C or TGF could potentially do would be to make a text box, set some text in it (or even leave it blank) and then tell C&C to save the text in the text box as "C:\COMMAND.COM" and then save it as vitalize and upload it to their homepage. When someone viewed the page, they wouldn't even realize that anything has been done. But the next time they tried to boot up their computer (or shell to DOS), they would find themselves with a problem. Also, you could screw up the Windows registry, or SYSTEM.INI, which is a little worse than screwing up COMMAND.COM since that can easily be replaced.

Chris Craft:
Thank you :)
I applied as a beta tester for C&C2 and I got an email telling me to respond with my fax number for a non-disclosure agreement. Unfortunately, I don't have a dedicated fax number. I called the woman who emailed me at Corel. She wasn't there, so I left a message on her machine asking her to call me back, and she never did. Oh well. And yes, that's what you would have to do with clipboard data. Good idea replacing it... I never thought of that ;)

Stig: Yes, I thought of that after I posted the message. The problem is notifying everyone who already has the plugin installed that it is outdated and getting them to download the new one.

Everyone else: TWIG, the freshest, hottest new Puzzle-Action game since Eggit, should be done by this weekend, with a BUG-FREE level editor, one of the most advanced and comprehensive you've ever seen!

First day of college today... phew! What a day...

Oh, I forgot to say : It would really help with a patch if it were in the Vitalize plugin, and not to C&C (is it the same prob' in TGF?).

The Vutalize plugin reads the commands, so they could just make a new version and make it ignore every attempt to write to a users HD.

That's easy

You can't make multiplayer by writing stuff to a local hard disk, and that's what you do by saving text file. does anyone know if you can have an ini file on the server?

Hmm. Security flaw? What exactly does it do? I mean, if you don't have a save thing, then is it still a security problem? I have just gotten an idea for a password system in C&C. Using Chris Craft's password system technique, and when the password=the password, then it jumps to a certain page. good idea?

Btw, if I disappear from the internet for a while, it means my free net subscription has run out. I will be back on within another month or so.

JonH: I did not use warcraft 2 soundfx only a couple music files from warcraft. Most the songs I composed and soundfx I made. I used them because composing music is hard.

As for my plug I'm doing a revised version of Dark Power. Also later after that project a adventure game or... I might restart on Starripper.

Defender Sira and Bugfest are great games. I see the game making scene developing from simple games to much more developed ones.

Hi All....

Good Evening to all K&P owners. I hope you are all alright. I am but am not happy about going
back to school in 15 days. Oh well...:D

I thought about searching the Internet for 3 hours and have found some very useful websites
set up by professionals and some friends of mine. Here they are:

[Music]
http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Alley/7097/
- The Video Game Music Archive -
Tons of Midi's here from loads of the 8bit and 16bit consoles up for download. A nice layout
and quick loading times. Loads of the famous games: Mario and Sonic are all here.

http://www.informatik.tumuenchen.de/~rehrl/GM.html
- Game Music Homepage -
A selection of Zipped midi's available here. Music from the PC, Commodore 64 and some consoles.
Reasonbly big and a fair number of midi's to download.

http://www.dragonfire.net/~squaremusic/
- The Unofficial Squaresoft Homepage -
Loads of Squaresoft midi's to download here aswell as info on all of their games.

http://www.city.ac.uk/~xa325/c64menu.htm
- The Commodore 64 Audio Game Music Page -
Dedicated to C64 music. It includes music for all the famous games aswell as the older
less famous ones. And you can order a CD full of C64 music!

http://netdial.caribe.net/~rdones/midilist.htm
- Game Music Corner -
Not many files here but their are some good ones along with a nice presented site and
some FAQ's all about music in Video Games.

enjoy...

Anyway I do have a few questions:

Chris: How much does your site cost or is it free?
Sprite: Why are you making Sira un-protected in the full version?
Rikus: When is Dragon Tails coming out?

Well my site will be up this weekend. And it's new look is great! New graphics and ideas galore.
A good review archive and some other new ideas. And a password system on the main page and it's
impossible to crack! and I'll only be giving it to some of you:
Sprite
Havoc
Silky
Rikus
Cragmyer
and a few more...
The page will be important K&P notices.

Game annoucement.
I am working on my RPG but it's gonna be different to normal RPG's.
First of all it's all hand drawn graphics with fully animated 256 coloured characters.
New ideas include: When you walk into someone a menu appears and you can choose: Talk, attack, ask a question and
other stuff. It will not have original music and I have no release date yet. Oh and when you
click start you don't get easy. medium or hard kind of thing but instead you get a map. On the
map is different kingdoms. and you choose one at a time to conquer and solve mystery's
It's gonna be cool!
and excellent AI!

Well bye all...

That's a security flaw? I had known it can do that for months. I had an app that let you send me e-mail that way. just don't be stupid and allow the user to choose the file name and directory. or just evn the directory. you ppl gotta look more at as a feature rather than being paranoid little monkes. (paranoid little monks? what the **** is that?) any who. just thought I would shine my little light on the issue.

Well, first of all Christian my hat is off to you. I sure hope
that you are on the beta-tester team for Click & Create 2. Maybe
that way it will turn out better than the first one did.

Yeah, I had thought that using the clipboard would create problems.
You would only need to use the clipboard at the begging and end of
the application. My plan would be to always replace the data back
that was in the clipboard. So the user wouldn't even notice. It
would only take a split second.

And of course you're right Vitalize! is now a HUGE security risk.
There's a lot to be said for uninstalling it from your system. Play
it safe if you don't have a back up.

Talk with you all later,
Chris Craft

christianwiehl@geocities.com, - Monday, August 18, 1997 at 11:44:15 (CDT)

Chris, I've solved your problem. You don't even need to use the clipboard. In fact, I know some users would be annoyed if you used the clipboard, a lot of people use the clipboard and would not be happy at the vitalize app causing the loss of their data.

If you go on my old Games Page (http://www.geocities.com/southbeach/marina/6543/p204.htm), you'll see that I also have been trying to develop a high scores table. Well, here is how you transfer that data. It's pretty surprising, and pretty easy.

The Edit Box in Vitalize! DOES INDEED have the capability to SAVE FILES to the hard disk! All you have to do, is as an event to some condition, tell the edit box to SAVE TEXT FILE.

THIS IS A VERY VERY VERY VERY _VERY_ HUGE SECURITY FLAW IN VITALIZE!!!! SOMEONE COULD SERIOUSLY CRASH YOUR COMPUTER, IE OVERWRITING COMMAND.COM, WIN.COM, WIN.INI, ETC ETC... I AM UNLOADING VITALIZE FROM MY SYSTEM. IT'S NO LONGER SAFE.
I'd advise everyone else to do the same, but you gotta have some kind of trust, you know. I will contact corel about a patch, but I doubt hackers would download the patch. And any good hacker would have realized this by now too.

-Christian

Chris Craft <acesoftware@geocities.com>
Florence, South Carolina USA - Monday, August 18, 1997 at 10:04:58 (CDT)

Hi everyone,

I have a problem that I need everyone's help with. I was thinking
that the biggest problem with Vitalize! is that you can't save data
on the user's disk. Well C&C can do this. So I was thinking then
if there was a way to send data from a Vitalize! app to a C&C app
the C&C helper app could save the data and Vitalize! could read the
information using the Vitalize! ini object which can just READ ini
files. This would allow Vitalize! and C&C program to communicate
with each other. This means you could make online high scores sites
for your games. You could make an online universe where each person
builds a part and the information is sent from one Vitilze! app to the
next by exploiting the Windows' Clipboard. Well I'm not going to
go into to much detail here. But, hopefully that enough information
to get you thinking.

Here's what I need. I need a way to get the information into the
clipboard. C&C has Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Undo, capabilities in
the Edit object which Vitalize! suports but it doesn't seems to
support selecting text. I don't want the user to have to select the
text manually, that stupid. But I can't think of another way.

Anyway please spend sometime playing around with this and see
if you can come up with anything at all and let me know. I've got
some ambitious plans that require this to work.

Thanks for reading,
Chris Craft

I got bored on the weekend, so instead of doing work, I made an interesting little game.. I call it the U.S.R. - Ultimate Stress Relief.. Remember the old VReal game KillThem? Remember the massacre section? Yep, updated version. This time however, you kill Smiley faces. The cute little bastards have always been asking for it, so if you come home one day a bit stressed and aggrevated, you can sit down and take your anger out on cute little smiley faces. After shooting about 2 you notice what they're made of. Blood. Lots of it. Yep, in this game it is possible to fill the entire screen with Dracula's beverage. More blood than Mortal Kombat, and it stays there until the little bastards finally get you.. The smileys get faster too, so don't expect an easy ride.. USR is finished.. Email me if you'd like to see it, and if I get enough responses, I'll post it somewhere.. Don't expect amazing gameplay (hell, I made it in 3 days) but expect lots of fun and a nice little stress relief episode.. Thanks, Craig..

Sprite: The mods would go to wave output, which would disallow any other sound effects within your application.

JonH: Thanks for your comments on Twig. And yes, that canon was taken from Sonic 3, it and the wooden block are the only two non-original pieces of artwork in twig. I plan to replace the wooden block with something original, and the canon as well, provided that I can draw something decent. But the wooden block will be definitely changed.

I know this is practically useless, but I forgot to put in the demo of Sira that during the map, pressing S and a number from 1 to 3 saves the game to the respective slot. There's also a way to get across the bridge, try shooting a wall three times. (Z is the action key.)

Weird web site, Samkim.... :)

Concerning the MOD players/drivers on Chris Craft's Click & Create Connection (there's an alliteration for ya), where is the sound output to? (ex. WAVE) `cause if it's to WAVE then how will the sound effects in a game play?

Hey gang. :)

I just read that Silky interview, it was quite interesting. The one thing that caught my attention was her choice of her favorite games. Among the few named was KNPTRIS... an excellent Tetris clone made by none other than the famous Stoann, who some may know as Elifino. He's gone now, but he certainly did a lot for everyone. :(
The reason I mention it is because Stoann was one of the first people who helped me out when I got started... way back when on AOL...

Makes you think that some AOL Knpers aren't all too bad...

Thats my two cents,
Kevin

Don't be offended by 6.8, I gave it 68%, and told Rikus if he'd like to use his scale, give it 8.

But the main downsides about the game was that it didn't vary and that the bouncing sound was awful.

Well, thank you for all who reviewed my games. ;)

Stig: In The Extacy full version, you can do just about everything you mentioned that you can't do. 1) To delete an object in the level editor, RIGHT CLICK the mouse button when over an object. 2) There is 1 boss at the end of the game. 3) The game was designed for 800x600 resolution or higher, so I can't be held responsible for things that are not on the screen.

Anyway, thank you Rikus for giving Sim-Fish a good rview. I may make a sequel where you can buy things for fishies. Toys, bigger tanks, different fishies, etc. And they could attack each other when they get mad, or something.... :-) Yeah. That'd be cool.

Btw, Steven Hutchison is now working on a PEZ Game, hence his website. If you want any info, e-mail him at: stevenhutch@juno.com. He'd really like any questions you have. It'll be PEZ Asteroids.

Does anybody know a good DNS server for Windows 95? I need something that's easy to figure out... I've gotten about 3, and they're impossible to use. I need a DNS server so I can be www.mydomain.com whenever I get my server up. But I'm prepping it now. :)

There are five, count 'em five, different ways to play MOD files in Click & Create listed on my Web site now. So if you ever wished you could play a MOD file in one of your applications then go check this out.

Method 5 shows how to play any file in Click & Create from MPEG's to MS Word documents to anything else you can think of. Here's the trick: use the Windows 95 start function to open the file in the application that it is associated with in the Windows Explorer. Yes I know this isn't perfect but you can do more with it than you might think at first.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think,

(mildhype)

GTS³'s Chronic the Hedgehog has had a complete facelift. New control. Gordon is now a bouncing ball that appears to be a platform character. Similar to Zeb. You can now bounce off Fatnik's heads without holding the jump key, you don't stick to the roof while holding the jump key and you can bounce off "springs". Added are new graphics (Gordon is completely redrawn), a better viewpoint (see where you land and where you should go next) and a few more things. Gordon will (probably) be the first K&P/TGF/C&C character to use a "run" button...

(/mildhype)

That's for anyone who still wants to see GTS³ released. But if it ever is, it won't be for a VERY LONG period of time. Of course it won't really ever be released. Because we are Hematoma, the Pessimistic Fifth Horseman of The Apocalypse, and we probably couldn't be bothered. So, bite us.

Sean, the demo of Crystalis, an RPG I'm working on is at http://members.tripod.com/~cw/crystalis.html

Dare I say it? Oh well, why not. In my opinion Crystalis (will be) the most complex and best action-adventure-rpg style game ever created with C&C/TGF. No offense to any other RPGs, mind you.

Also, coming soon:
TWIG - a new puzzle game I've been working on is almost complete. This time I can say it with confidence - TWIG HAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST AND MOST COMPREHENSIVE LEVEL EDITOR _EVER_ Created in C&C/TGF. Go ahead and flame me for saying that, but at least give it a shot when it comes out.
Actually, twig can't really be considered a true "puzzle" game, it's like Eggit and Tetris in that there's a great deal of thinking involved, but you also need fast reflexes. Oh well. I guess you'll just have to play it to get what I mean. Like anybody cares, anyway. =Þ

OK, seeya.

Hi Guys

I've been thinking:

Sprite: In defender Sira you could have something like if you collected one lollie and collected one straight after without touch the ground then you cget extra points like in sonic where if sonic got one baddie for 100 points and then got another without touch the ground he'd get his normal 100 points with a bonus 100. SO I have provided some programming help below and this version actually worked for me!

Created a new counter and call it "DoubleP"
-Start of Level - Set counter to=0
-Collision between "SIRA" and "GROUND" then set counter to=0
-Collision between "SIRA" and "LOLLY" then add 1 to counter
-Collision between "LOLLY" and "SIRA"
+Counter=1 then give player 200 points

That was very rough. You will have to do a bit yourself.

SPRITE: COME OT K&P I NEED TO TALK TO YA!!
oh and I ma download Alice for fun.see ya all later

Well, Chris, I have reviewed The Extacy. I've submitted it to the Jon Hill page. It was very good - I gave 68%. Compared to other TGF Arcade games it's 85% easily, but I think when people give 95% to TSOTLS, it's quite crazy. It's a game. You jump, move and shoot - even Mega Man I was better than TSOTLS - and you should compare it to the games of the present. I think Extacy was better than TSOTLS - much more challenge.

A little while back Bierster posted a comment about a MCI MOD
driver. I thought that this sounded very promising and went and
checked it out. I finally found the driver and have posted a
tutorial on how to use it with Click & Create on my site. I have
also found out about two other ways that it may be possible to
access MOD files from Click & Create. I've posted this with the
other information on my site also. I wanted to have some Click &
Create demonstration files too. But I haven't found the time to
write them. Sorry the tutorial is so dry; I must admit I had to
throw it together in a hurry.

Does anyone remember a MCI experimenter program someone made a
while back. It allowed the user to send MCI commands and see what
happened. I would rather use this program than waste my time
making one of my own. Let me know if you know the URL.

Sorry for not checking my e-mail... I've been away at a friend's house...

Sprite: The Extacy is not a long download. It's about 1.5 megs zipped, and 4 megs installed. Btw, the 1st bonus level has music that Europress made for TGF, that I modified. There.

Umm... Alice sounds kinda cool... I don't want to make any 3-D games though. I like to make platformers mostly. Could someone e-mail every function of Alice to me? I.e. you can jump, make cheats, make platforms, etc.

Thanks!

My site will be updated soon too, with new The Extacy 2 pics, and a pic of the 3d intro it will have!! Yeah! TE2 will be about 4x as big as TE, size-wise, and have 45 levels, with 1 bonus level for every 5 levels. Plus a boss or two. And lots of powerups, a store, a 2 player mode, level editor, etc. It'll be awesome.

Btw, it will be sold by Crowfoot Creations. I'm not sure if I'll be able to release it as freeware for SIlky's members only, since Greg Crowfoot's main goal is to sell it, not give it away.

Newman: I tried metal.mid on an Awe 32 or 64 (I'm not sure which one) and it sounded kinda wierd... One part sounded like a walkman when it runs out of batteries, and the clapping sounded kinda funny... I'm not sure if I'll use it afterall... maybe though...

In non- Klik & Play news...

I will be making a "Simpsons" website, dedicated to... The Simpsons, hence the name. I haven't started yet... I'm gathering graphics and sounds. If anyone knows a good graphics site with lots of Simpsons graphics, please tell me. I have plenty of sounds, and a few Simpsons games for the Macintosh... not for PC. I need more games too.

I guess i'll stop now...

Yes, SamKim, I think you'll find that most MOD editors are extremely difficult to figure out how to use. Digitracker is allright. I prefer Scream Tracker. Look out for it. You may want to try www.modarchive.com, I think they have some trackers there (not sure). Also, it is the biggest archive on the `net for MOD/S3M/XM files. So if anybody wants to download some really cool music files, go there too!

To Sira. I mean, Sprite :D - Thursday, August 14, 1997 at 18:11:34 (CDT)

Sprite,

I just grabbed a copy of Sira. I loaded it up, and found the zip was corrupted -- y'know what it was? On my vacation in Ireland, I took up with an ISP there, and I had forgotten to change the proxies when I returned to the USA... It took Ireland On-Line a total of 45 minutes (I was on IRC for a while) to realize that I wasn't on that ISP any more and to accordingly stop my download and MIRC. :D I fixed up Netscape and got Sira right the second time... just thought that little anecdote might amuse y'all :)

About the game... The more I play Sira, the more I like it. I like the "Keen" style interface, the quirky animations, and the cool way in which it's all assembled... including that cool little counter that tells you how many times you've played the game :D It all meshes together without any hiccups at all, and there really aren't any bugs -- that's my kind of platform game!

If you want, drop me a line at musicsk@hotmail.com -- I think I might be able to cook up a theme song or something.

Now! On to the midi quality problem.

David Jarrett got an interesting idea from a MIDI class -- make two versions of your game midis, one for external synths, one for internal cruddy ol' SB16. Sounds good to me.

I got a .MOD editor, Digitrakker, but I can't figure it out at all -- I'll download a few more and see what I can do.

BUT-So Far I Haven't Recieved Anything To Confirm That Alice Can Save As A StandAlone. If It Doesn't, Only A Fraction Of The People In The KnP Community Will Be Able To Play Our Games. We're Not ALL Gonna Download 24 Megs Just So We Can Play Some Little Game We Find On The Internet. Please Tell Me You Can Save As A Stand Alone File...

Hello everyone... I have a couple of annoying questions for you guys.
Has anyone ever successfully copied a file with the file object in C&C? I've tried repeatedly and was unable to get it to work. Please let me know.

Also, you know the font that was used for the text in Zeb? It's also the same font that was used in a few of the objects included with C&C (ie the "Multimedia" banner). Anybody know what font that is, and where I can get it?

Thanks,

Hi all!

This is my first post about the Realm.

Firstly I think it's a great idea and should be welcomed. It won't be as good as sliky and it won't be the same all round but it'll be a site for anyone to drop into. As well as bringing aolers some happness and in the end helping everyone. If silky doesn't have you want then the Realm will. I support this web site and am offering my services to them to help them in anyway. I use a very good html editor(FrontPage 97) and am reasonable in the graphics department. I think what they're trying to do is great and we should support them.

And if you fill out their online form, they'll send it right to your real mail box, via CD-ROM, so you don't have to spend all that time downloading it.

Chris, I'll be checking out TE real soon if it's not a long download. I have to get some sleep ....

Samkim : don't worry about it ... if you're really desparate though, I can try converting it into a CCN (which you most likely can open in TGF/C&C, right?) or slice the zip file into smaller one-a-day pieces. Ask and you shall receive. :)

I didn't expect quite this kind of reaction to my
contention that the standard card is STILL the SB FM
board... (Even the SB16 uses a SLIGHTLY better version of
the OPL3 found on the SB8 and its kin...)
To address the AWE64 issue... I agree to some extent with those
who claim the board is crap... IF your purpose is to play
the music from computer games etc.. It does ok... BUT you
are wasting a large portion of its capability... If I were
looking to buy a SB board, I would buy a SB32 and throw in
8 megs of RAM, throw in EMU's 8 meg GM sample kit, a couple
extra basses and snares and be rolling...

OR....

Buy a cheapo SB16 and throw a ROLAND SCD10/15 on it... These
are wavetable daughterboards filled with GREAT roland sounds.
Since they are out of production, they can be found cheap
sometimes... IE 30$...

Of course if you don't want to mess around, you could build
a rack setup similiar to mine with:
Roland JV880
"" U110
Kawai K5
and for drums a
rolamd MK550mkII
and to mix it all a
mackie 1202VLZ
and using a
Turtle Beach Tropez plus w. 8 megs as a sampler...

I agree with whoever recommended the yamaha cards, both
XG cards are very good, basically the same guts as the CS1X
synth they have out now...

peace,
mmason

BTW, I have incorportated mods into C&C, it is just clumsy!
Right now I span an external program which runs in the background
while the game plays...

Re: music quality

Martin Mason: You missed the point. There is no way to incorporate MODs, or MP3s for that matter, into C&C or TGF. Midi is really the only way of putting in music, unless you have several megs in the form of .WAVs or your game is on a CD. It would be impractical for a DEMO to include either of these things. I just have to trust to faith that you have a decent soundcard or at least a wavetable. :) By the way, how IS that .mp3 player for C&C coming on? It would be a real bonus (although it would inflate the download time like a balloon ;)).

To all reviewers: If you are going to review music without a synthesizer or wavetable, say something like, "Well, it sounds cruddy on my SB16..." instead of "Oh, the soundtrack is awful." :) Thanks.

Sprite: Gee, I really haven't had the time to d/l Sira. I've got a bad UART. Does anyone know how much it costs to re-chip your serial port?

My good friend, I think he posted here once as Opaque, has himself an SBAWE64. In our opinion it's the best. Turned up, along with his RoomBoomer Bass Blaster, the entire floor shakes, and you can feel it too.
The midis sound totally different than on my 'puter's SB2.0 New. I swear I can actually hear things that weren't there implemented. So I recommend getting one, if you get a bass blaster also.

About the sound thing: I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but I have a SoundBlaster 16 with AWE 32 plug and play. I also have some kind of 3D stereo enhancement thing. whatever. And does this wingroove thing really make midis sound better? maybe I'll have to try it.

In other news... the GTS³ platform levels (some love, some hate) are possibly going to be redone with cool features such as trampolines, halfway markers and proper boppable enemies a la Mario. If completed, the themes will stay the same, and so will the end of level sequences. Something to look forward to maybe? Maybe it won't happen. I got my new computer that I'm takin' with me to college the other day, and I hadta download WinGroove. Sure, a built-in wavetable was high on my list, but it didn't pan out that way. Yes, most of us underlings have had 8-bit sound cards most of our lives. Heck, I was lucky to have a good 16-bit FM synthesis for the past two years. And Samkim's stuff DOES sound a great heck of a lotta deal better on a wavetable synthesizer (wouldna thought that possible!:). And my stuff composed on a FM Synthesizer MIDI card sounds like crap on the new stuff. :P
Kevin: Glad you like Walkerton Rock! :) I hadta "update" the old version for WinGroove's better audio, but the work turned out purty darn well nifty. :)
As for all this Realm stuff....I can't wait for it to come online....even if for my own morbid curiosity. In the merging mega-communities, who will get lost in the shuffle? I'm purty determined to not be one of the casualties. :)

My friend told me that it makes MIDIs sound better than WinGroove (which I love), and actually makes the midis sound like Nintendo 64. Any truth to that?

Has anyone successfully achieved split screen scrolling?
It seems that this would be the realm of the accomplished

I fiddled with the idea for a while as a variant to the

but the implementation never worked.... Any demos out there?

Martin S. Mason <mmason@ucrph1.ucr.edu>
So. Cal USA - Tuesday, August 12, 1997 at 18:23:52 (CDT)

hmmm...
I have been fiddling with the mixer control... I think that
this is very sound card dependent... On the mixer control,
we have three seperate controls: Wav(self explanitory) FM
synth and Square wav syth... I find it interesting that
C&C distinguishes between the FM syth and the so called square
wav synth... I understand that there are often seperate
units on sound cards that control FM vs. WAVETABLE, but a
square wav synth? What kind of demented creature would that
be? Doing superpostion and modulation of square wavs by
themselves would not be very interesting! (Lots of peaking?!)
I thought that maybe they were refering to the wavetable portion
of the soundcard, but this does not seem to be the case...
Anyway in my testing w. an AWE32 I have found the folling:
1. Wav synth volume affects wav volume AND midi volume
2. FM synth volume affects midi voluce AND wav volume!
3. Square wav synth ???? I can't tell!

I suppose I should plug in some other cards and try this out...
Anyone else had a different experience?

Re: Samkin raving about how his sequences only sound good on
a Yamaha PSR510(?)
When you write a sequence you should REALIZE that most people
are functioning at the SB 8bit level! This mean 4 op FM syths!
With ONLY 8-9 voices! You should test all your music on an
old 8bit card and then at least minimally OPTIMIZE the
sequence for said card! The FM cards can only make about 5
distinct sounds! (BUZZ CLANK HISS WHOO CLICK) This
renders elaborate drum parts useless! BUZZ BUZZ CLICK HISS etc..

If you want to preserve the beautiful sounds of your PSR510
:-) Then sample it and make mod files...

mmason

Ho ho, I agree with you Craig. The very first post about TMR was so supercilious, makes you want to hit the person in the head. But that was awhile ago.

As for their games (all you), I really don't care. I made and do still make a lot of crappy little games, like Deluxe Pong, and I'm sure we all do at some point in our lives. Be thankful that they release their games and not keeping it to themselves. This whole "your game is better, and not his" thing dates back to when somebody thought of reviewing these freeware games. That's why I don't do reviews at all, someone is always complaining "why did you say this and that?"

Marcello is on a vacation to Greece. I believe he'll be back in one or two weeks, or maybe even less.

As for Defender Sira demo, thank you for your comments, I'm still working on the big game.

Mission Viejo, soon to be San Diego, California, born and raised. United States of America - Tuesday, August 12, 1997 at 16:05:41 (CDT)

Hello everyone.

This is regarding all the posts that have been made since my last jouney to The Wall. Craig, your post made me understand where you are coming from and got me to thinking. I now see your post wasn't a flame, but just a defensive reaction to all this. I still don't understand why the whole "AOL" deal got brought up, for you really can't judge an individual just based upon the "intenet servive provider" they use. It just isn't fair.
I know and understand a lot about the problems with the AOL board, with "My first Game by Johnny Kid". Although that doesn't happen as much anymore, when it does, it brings ME a smile. Why? Because I remember making my first game, and I was sooooo proud of it. At the time, I didn't have an internet connection, so I didn't have access to uploading it. But, I probably would have. I see the first games by these newcomers as a new generation coming in, and as I have been there a long time, it makes me happy to see that others have found my same interest.
We have some very talented 11 and 12 year old Knpers at AOL, who have made some decent games. (Nice first efforts). AOL, was more like that in its inception, YES, becuase everyone was new. As the months have rolled on the quality of games has risen to a level where you wouldn't question a download.
I still disagree with the "AOL area is Inferior to Silky's" quote. Why? Becuase NO MATTER WAHT service provider we use, no matter if one person uses "http" to navigate and other simply points and kliks, EVERYONE uses the SAME engine... Klik & Play. (Or CC&C, TGF). So when someone is working at K&P, there is no internet in mind, everyone is using the same Event Editor, everyone is using the same Level Editor. So I whole-heartily disagree with that.
I do, understand, though, that my first post was quite ambitious, and quite hopeful I want you all to understand that I am an extremely optimistic guy, and I have great excitement for anything that comes my way (hell, I plan to own my own Theme Park one day, I gotta be optimistic) :) So when I made that post, that was a reflection on my excitement, and iot incorporated all of my enthusiasm. If it was too "showy", I apologize. I have a habit to sound like "EGM" everynow and then. :)
Silky, thanks for all the luck, and I understand you do this full-time. I NEVER have said anything to critizize your site, or try to make you feel intimidated. I simply showcased what the site was all about, and left. As for "The Next Level" comment, it meant in no way a challenge, as everyone is making it out to be. I made that comment regarding a new generation of Knpers, that will all be thrown into the mix, and that, combined with our special feature "ELFNET" (Which allows users to play other users ONLINE), we truly feel it is another step. It meant nothing of the "We are better than Silky's Sort", thats not what I went for.
To be honest, many of you are expecting The Realm to be a Silky's "clone". And thats true. The Realm YES, will have many features Silky's has. (WALL, Chat, Message Boards, Game Download Library). But there are a lot of new things we have planned, that make the Realm more of an online "e-zine", as there are reviews, previews, tricks, strategies, and more "magazine" type features. That's another reason why it could be "The Next Level", as where your excellent WALL and Games Download library stops, our entire special sections begin. I still find it upsetting to me that you all think we came in here to announce THE NEW SILKYS, and that everyone should leave.
I have said this more times than I can remember, but I LOVE SILKY'S. She is the reason that inspired me to DO THIS. I visit this place everyday. And it is SOOO frusterating to read you guys accusing me of trying to take the crowd away, which by now I am sure, Silky thinks we are out to do. Please know that it is not true.
Hopefully The Majestic Realm can be a place where everyone can stop by, sure, but if not, THATS OKAY. Remember also, that The Realm is serving as all the AOL Knpers next chapter, as the first is clsoing on them fast. I see The Realm as a place where the AOL Knpers and Intenet Knpers can FINALLY meet, and finally get along. The Realm plans to be an open community where anyone and everyone can visit. And Craig, I believe in your views, about it won't happen overnight, and I agree. Even if it takes a YEAR to happen, it will be a marvelous year. I think it is time for everyone to finally cross paths, in a peaceful way. I see The Realm as the AOLers chance to do that, and our chance to gain respect among all of you.
I am sorry if my first post offended any of you, or got you to take the defense. There was no need for that, and I openly apologize. Just please know that I am extremely excited about The Realm, and obviously it comes through in my posts. Again, lets just all move on, and see what the future brings.
I hope you all ave a wonderful week, and God Bless.

Your friend (yes, friend),
Kevin M Smets

About AOLers being "looked down on," I just thought I'd say I'm proud to announce that I always remember to type "http://."

Otherwise, I don't care...I'm not really interested in any advanced features, and I'm pretty much Internet-illiterate. However, this doesn't tie into how well or how badly I can make games. I had K&P back when it first came out, and I didn't get on the net until less than a year ago. That's alot of time to spend working on making games, WITHOUT wasting any time visiting websites like I do now. Anyway, I think my new game Destruction Carnival will show what I'm capable of. It's pretty much finished, and I'm just adding the intro and ending now.

Charles

P.S. Christian, I know you were not stating your opinion. I just thought I'd address that view.

Hey All!

If you don't know about it don't forget to check out my web page http://members.aol.com/suprelfman... Make sure to DL a pretty good game I put together titled Paladin, its an adventure/RPG that takes places during the medieval times of Camelot.

Also, not sure if you know about it but I'm busily beta testing ElfNet with my 6 member testing team... Everything's going good, should be available from my site within a couple weeks, check out http://members.aol.com/elfnet1/ if you want more info.

Last item, I plan to do a C/C++ multiplayer app (client and server) using the Winsock API, I have very good knowledge with most programming languages, especially C++, but I could really use another partner in creating it.... Christian, how about it? You may want to wait to see what I did with ElfNet first though, its pretty advanced, the chat apps created with it are amazing (working on speed right now). Both Java and VB are slow though, just imagine what would could do =)

Hello, okay my turn and my first and last post about this: I think its a cool idea that there is another site coming. I visit more then 1 site every day, so if the realm is also cool i will visit that 1 also. Like i visit david willis his page when he updated its, or the vreal page, or my own homepage, or sprite his page, etc. But i will look at silky's as the main "page" where you can alway's can come back to. Kevin: i also think you could said you first post in another way. Becouse if the realm is not good people will flame you becouse you said it would be the next best thing since silky's. But if you just said there would be a cool new k&p,c&c and tgf site coming out soon everyone would be happy. But please keep on going in creating your site, people have to get used to new things. you wont believe how much people flamed me when i made the first reviews about people's games. :-) Or when i created the #k&p channel on efnet. You know how many people visited every day? 1 person and that was me, but on 1 day more people came and more and more every day. And then we moved to dalnet and you know the rest of the story. The point is about this strange story is: That maybe at first the realm seams like a bad idea, and people want to stay at silky's, but after a couple of months the people that at first hated your site ,are now visiting it everyday. So we have no right to say that the realm will be good or bad, becouse its not here yet. Nobody have seen it yet. So lets just wait until it comes online and then we can tell you if its bad or good. Have a great day, Bye, Rikus Kras Amazing Productions http://www.is.nl/ap/

Hi. I like the idea. I don't know what brought that on, but think about it, we've all been going insane talking about the reasons why we think this is so good or terrible. I'm starting to get confused about what you people are saying, so I'm going to keep it down to one line.

I like the idea.

hi all,

Silky: Ok...I have an idea. Instead of you wasting a lot of your time to put games up on your server, you could just put links to the file, since most people post their games several times before they send it here. Just a thought. Hmm...I might get some hatemail for this...oh well.

Ummm folks....it's alright, really. I wish Kevin and crew all the luck in the world, their plans are very ambitious, they're gonna need all the luck they can get. The same thing happened on a smaller scale when folks started popping out their own homepages, no biggie...the net is a big place, certainly room for more than one or two sites on any given topic. I started Silky's because two years ago, there really WASN'T a good place for folks interested in this to get together...that's what this place was established for. Thankfully, as folks started their own pages, they also started having places for their own games, and it made a bunch less work and storage for me, works out really well that way.

Kevin, the only part of your original post that made me raise an eyebrow was the statement that you were going to take interactivity "to the next level". Good luck babe. I like...do this for a living. Silky's has also doubled as my experiment site for neato webtoys. After something works out here, I then can offer it to my webhosting clients, and interactivity is my specialty. If you come up with more interactive goodies, I'll be the first in line taking notes.

You're right about new games not going up very often, they really don't need to. Any given day...you could visit the links page, the users homepage list, this wall...or any forum, and find links to new fresh games being announced by their creators. No real need for them to be hosted on THIS server, users have taken the next step and many of them are hosting their own and just announcing it here.

Silky's is about community, users getting in touch with one another. Housing games was and is part of the mix, but it's not nearly the prioriety it was...when noone had a site of their own.

I've gotten a lot of flak about the opening mission statement on the main index page. Many folks have told me I need to take that down, or move it. I don't primarily because the purpose of this site really hasn't changed, and we get new folks everyday that have never read it before. It's important. If anyone is confused about the purpose of this site, go back and reread the first couple three paragraphs, it's all there.

Hello. This will be MY last post regarding the whole AOL vs Inet, Silkys vs Realm thing. I hope that it will be the last one posted as well.

Kevin, I am stating this from a 3rd person view, it in no way reflects my feelings or interests. I think many hard-core internet people "look down" upon AOLers because AOL has an easy to use interface. People on AOL don't need to remember to type http:// and to use advanced internet features (unless you take it to a higher level and use database codes, ie aol://2719:2-2-privateroom). They therefore assume that AOLers are idiots that don't know how to use computers and thus would make crappy KNP games. Just like the way PC users frown upon Macintosh users. Personally, I have visited the AOL KNP arena and left a bit disappointed. I think because the way that AOL does message boards is weird, and because a lot of the games posted are "my first knp game, by johnny the kid," posted by people so proud to have made a game that they want the world to see. I do not want to flame the AOL KNPers, there are quite a few excellent ones out there, I played RyGuy's games when they first came out, and they are quite good. However, I do feel that AOLs KNP area is inferior to Silky's, not because of the people in it, but because of the way it is set up. Now I know you don't represent the AOL KNP area, but I just expressed my feelings toward it to provide an example of why I am glad that you are trying to put this site together. There once was an AOL C&C area, but for some reason, it got shut down as well. Good luck on your site. I hope that it turns out as well or better than you planned. I also feel compelled to apologize on behalf of everyone on the wall for jumping all over you. I don't think anyone thinks that you are maliciously trying to make a site that will steal Sily's users. I just think that people were a bit intimidated by your enthusiasm in your first message about the Realm. A better approach, I think, would have been to post a message like, "Hello I am Kevin Smets, and Ry Guy and I are putting together this huge, awesome new CNC, KNP, TGF site, and if you want more info, go to http://blah blah blah..." and then set up a webpage with information. I hope that we have not insulted you or the collection of AOL KNPers, of which there are many good ones. I hope that you continue to post updates about The Realm as well.

But please EVERYONE, this back and forth FLAMING has got to stop. We're here to discuss KNP. Not to fight. If you want to flame, try sending an EMAIL and dealing with the person INDIVIDUALLY, rather than posting a message to show how TOUGH you are. That's almost as bad as spam. Let's just start anew with Kevin and Ry Guy and give them as warm a welcome as we would anyone else.
Thanks.

Sincerely,
Christian

Craig Jardine <cjardine@hildas.unimelb.edu.au>
- Tuesday, August 12, 1997 at 07:02:11 (CDT)

Ok.. here we go.. Firstly, I NEVER flamed you, Ryan or The Majestic Realm. Period. If you take constructive criticism (re: the news bit.. just wondering how it'd be made viable for the sake of MY OWN curiosity..) or generalisations about the workings of the wall( why does "newbie" directly associate with you personally?) as flames than so be it.. I couldn't help wondering about a few things though... I NEVER PROCLAIMED YOU WERE GOING TO TAKE OVER SILKY'S! I agree the whole point of the realm is to create another "meeting point" for the K&P community, and that's fair enough.. The point I _tried_ to make was that people will still see Silky's as "home".. I'll happily plug VReal games at Silkys and at TMR, but it would take a fair while before I'd consider TMR as an automatic "wall check" stop as I do with Silky's.. You guys really should expect that there will still be a bit of a split.. Silky's crowd and the TMR group will mix and cross-post, but there'll still be a reasonable amount of separation between the two groups.. Didn't everyone around here "feel around" as to what the scene was like before posting? Weren't those first posts infrequent and pretty short? That'll happen with the TMR wall too, as the AOLers get into a new home and Silky's people wander over for a look, you won't get the type of stuff that's seen here.. Likewise, the AOLers (please note I'm calling that K&P group "AOLers" for want of a better name) will FIRSTLY feel their way into the TMR wall (as that's where they'll feel at home first of all) and then _slowly_ make their way over to Silky's.. Just don't expect something like the wall to originate over night.. That takes time.. There is nothing wrong with sharing your ideas with everyone else! I also don't mind enthusiasm in posts, but even you must admit it was a bit "over the top"? I mean, be enthusiastic but for gods sake don't make it sound like you _are_ making the best site in creation.. Give yourself some leeway.. Ok.. "You say I came in here, acting like an "idiot", deserving every flame".. Well, I DIDN'T say that.. In your earlier post, you mentioned how "rude" people were here to "newbies".. I stated a fact of life.. Newbies who do stuff like that tend to get funny looks from people (not me though..) I never said you were a newbie (I've known about you for some time) and I never meant for you to somehow construe that section was calling you an idiot. You are not an idiot, any more than I'm an idiot. "Deserving every flame"? not really.. I was slightly cynical about whether it could live up to your grand vision, and you call it a flame. I enquired about how you'd handle the news section, you call it a flame. As for comparing both areas.. I haven't been taking much notice of the scene outside Silky's recently (I find it had enough to keep up with Silkys) so I CAN'T pass judgement on what is happening there.. I don't really care what your email extension is, as long as you can make decent games.. Even if the games are on the wrong side of average (like a fair proportion of games from around here) at least they're having a go.. One thing I wondered is why AOLers didn't usually make themselves know at Silky's, but now I know that there is a scene around the Maxis post, my question is answered.. As for me being "a jerk" to you an passing judgement on you, when did I do that? As I said before, I didn't mean you when I mentioned newbie idiots.. Tell me something, does making my opinion know on a subject automatically pass judgement on the person involved? Is constructive criticism merely a kick in the guts? When I first made games, they were crap. Of course, I made them so I thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread.. Then they got reviewed and completely canned. Did I take that as a personal attack? Did I fear that the reviewer had a vendetta against me? Or did I simply look at my games an my skills in a new light, and get on with it? I wasn't attacking you or your ideas.. As for who made me God.. Well, I'm sorry to say that I'm not god. No-one around here has made a good enough game to be called a God.. I'm sorry to drag this on (open apoligy) but you reacted so adversely to my constructive criticism that I had to clear a few things up. I DON'T carry myself "like this" around here.. Ask anyone who's been around a while (or even who hasn't) I'm probably one of the most sedate and calm people here. I don't flame people, and they don't flame me. The only minor quibbles I've been involved in are the Jon Hill incident (To be continued..) and a small argument with Rikus that involved me stating my opinion, Rikus reacting, me responding and Rikus making things up to me.. A quote I remember from Rikus regarding the Jon Hill incident(s) "Wow, you got Craig mad and that's one person that never gets mad".. I'm not even mad now, because we just have to get things straight and everything'll be fine again.. I WILL visit TMR, post on the wall, download games and stuff.. However, if someone throws some constructive criticism your way, don't over-react and go for their throat. THINK ABOUT IT. I want this thing to work as much as you do. It seems that you've taken up on me as the "ringleader" of this, so EVERYONE, EASE UP! It's clear Kev doesn't like it so just cut some slack, ok? Email me and we can clear stuff up if you need any more clarification, OK? Thanks, Craig.

I'm sorry, but don't go trying to justify your post and claim it wasn't a flame. First off, it has been everyone here who has been "sensitive" and "perceptive", as they are standing guard in front of Silky's gates. WE NEVER claimed we were going to "take over" Silkys... we NEVER claimed that The Realm would forever claim the best website award, we NEVER CLAIMED that we wanted everyone to pack up and leave this place. Again, we wanted to share with everyone our ideas and plans for the future. What is so wrong with that? I posted earlier, I am an extremely optimistic guy, and my enthusiasm always comes through in my posts and in my games. You say I came in here acting like an "idiot", thus deserving every flame. I came in here, outlining what The Realm is about, so that maybe some people would like to be a part of it (to get their games previewed, etc). It was YOU Craig and a few others, who took the initiative to start comparing both areas, and bringing in this whole "We are better than AOL" thing. Whether you take my post as an "idiot" or not, it still gives you NO RIGHT whatsoever to pass judgement on me, and decide to be a jerk to me. Who made you GOD, Craig? Again, I'll say this... at this point, I don't CARE if a certain few of you come to The Realm. You make it out like we are here to take everyone away, end of story. Thats not true. Craig, I have seen your work and I respect you and what you have done. I just feel that your "justification" of your previous post was not accurate. As for a Wall-type message system, if you read the original post, The Realm plans to have Three modes of live chat, a huge topic oriented discussion board, and The Shooting Star, which is our "WALL" type interface. Again, please let's just end this all everyone. It seemed as though things calmed down, Craig, and once again, YOU, decided to further drag this out. If this is the way you carry yourself around here, than please STAY here, and don't bother to visit The Majestic Realm, at all.

Craig Jardine (Virtually Real) <cjardine@hildas.unimelb.edu.au>
- Tuesday, August 12, 1997 at 03:16:35 (CDT)

Hey, Kevin.. Taking my post as a flame (or taking ANY of my posts as a flame) is a bit silly.. I was just curious about how the news section would be structured.. After all, wouldn't it be better to forgo the entire section and let people just plug their wares on the respective walls (Silkys and TMR).. I was also interested about whether AOLers make their own groups (which has been a great development with the people around Silky's since I started coming here in April last year..) Basically, gaming groups tend to make better games (although we all get our wires crossed occasionally) and I was wonderin if the AOLers were doing the same sort of thing.. Actually, if you can construe ANY part of my posts as a flame, you're either very perceptive or very sensitive.. As for the "nice to people" bit, even you must admit that your original post was a bit pretentious.. I mean, a list and a tantilising description of the parts that'll be implimented would have been enough to get interest, and people wouldn't get defensive. The grand sweeping theatrical manner of your post was enough to make me (your typical, garden variety cynic) say "bullshit" to the computer screen, just as I do when someone posts a long-winded hype-up of one of their games.. I post about VReal's games in a brief, informative and non-hyped fashion once or twice and then let the games speak for themselves.. That way, if people hate the game they can't flame you for your excessive (and wrongly deserved) hype.. Get my point? Good.. Most people around here are nice to newbies, but think about it. If someone goes somewhere (another post-board, a newsgroup etc.) and acts like an idiot or asks blatantly obvious questions then they're not gonna be respected, are they? David N - Interesting Course.. Sounds like my B. Computer Systems Engineering/ B. Computer Science at RMIT.. My current workload is 27 hours a week (well, it was 30 last semester..) In case some of you people were wondering, THAT'S why I haven't been making very many games.. :o) Craig

Sorry to offend you Kevin and Ryan. I don't think AOLers have bad taste in games and I am actually really looking forward To the Majestic Realm. It seems these clashing comunitys Net KNP and AOL KNP have really got each sides really protective over are territory and the mention of an AOL started Internet site for KNP has got some of us really protective. When the Realm finnaly comes out we will see a lot of the two sides come together if a lot of us decied to come to The Realm. It may have a really positive effect. Better games hoepully since there will be a bigger online KNP comunity. Sorry for the negative posts. I just wan't all this flaming and to end.

Ok, PK2 was released only on aol. Why? Because most sites did not have the 10mb to host it. Now I have a server, I'm not limited anymore. Understand? I don't usually brag about my games? But I have a right to if I got stuff like that. Yes, most of them are AOLers and sometimes I took the time to send it out through e-mail. AOLers don't have a bad taste of games, I don't understand why you think we are different because we have a @aol.com at the end of our e-mail address. That's just wrong.

Kevin, I've seen the AOL knp games and thats why I have the RIGHT to say most of the superior creators are here. Ry Guy you must have gotten a really bloded head over the Pong Kombat 2 game with all the "AOLers" telling you how great it was. Are little games coment you made and the Pong Kombat page saying how great it was and telling all the awards it won from other "AOLers". I'm sorry I just can't stand egotisical people. Geez, listen to yourselves!

We NEVER made any mention of taking over Silky's, and we never made any mention of BASHING the good games of THE WALL crowd. As I recall, it has been you regulars making the majority of the flames here. As I ma new to posting here, I am realizing that you all like to keep to yourselves, and not welcome anyone in with open arms.
You want one single difference between the AOL knpers and the Silky's Knpers? RESPECT. Whenever ANYONE would introduce themselves to the AOL community, everyone (except for a slight few :::ahem:: Pug :::Ahem:::) would welcome them and be completely considerate.
We came in here to announce something that we are PROUD of (just like the majority of you guys do), and WE GET FLAMED. That is absolutely ridiculous, and I could care less if there are a lot of established "companies" around here. I use Klik & play for FUN and to share my imagination with the rest of the world.
You guys take the defensive on every little thing, and like this or not, I have seen a higher level of friendliness at AOL, and thats something I would not have expected.
We came here to introduce you to the new site we are publishing. If you don't like it? Get over it, don't come, and SHUT UP. Don't come crying to The WALL acting all defensive of Silky's, when the MAIN thing I have tried to say over and over it, that we are NOT trying to "take over" Silky's.

In fact, at this rate, with the rude responses we have recieved, I could care less if you people went to our site. We are going to promote a friendly environment where anyone can come in and visit "newbie" or not. If this is the way most of you act towards new Knpers, than The Majestic Realm would not be the place for you.

Well, I am sad to say that I will not be developing in Click & Create anymore. I have recently enrolled in the University of Advancing Technology with Software Engineering as a major. Because of the demanding courses I just won't have time to make C&C games anymore. :( So, as a result Devil's Tower and two other projects are on hold. (Gee this's be eaiser if he 'enter' key had any effect...) This's all in responce to Craig's questions. I'm not trying to contine a flamewar here, or anything... If you'd like a fairly accurate sample of what AOLers consider the "best" knp games, just ask Kev or Ryan for "Peanut 2" or "Star Force: SE". I'm sure you'll find them...interesting! Are there knp groups on AOL? No, there's simply about 20 1-person software groups that make...well.....'interesting' games. If you want an idea of what i'm talking about, head over to http://members.aol.com/jakubsk There're links to all the AOLer's sites. Ryan - our "little" games, huh? Well, I suggest you do a lot more downloading of the games made by the Silky's stalwarts, as some of them happen to be quite good. I'm interested in PK2, though.. I'll download it and play it, and then cast my judgement on the wall.. As most people around here know, I'm frightfully honest with how I see games.. I'm also not bashing The Realm, I'm just a bit doubtful that it'll turn out like you guys think it will.. I'll say one thing, where else can you find the latest K&P/C&C/TGF news than from the keyboards of the people who are making the news? And where is all that announced? Silky's. Good luck guys, as the so-called "exclusives" of the K&P world cycle rather efficiently through the wall and #k&p.. I'm also interested in something.. Are there K&P groups of the calibre of VReal, Pusro and Hematoma in the AOL arena? That would be a very interesting thing to see.. In remotely games related news, DC is nearing the end of production.. A little bit of playtesting and it'll be released.. I'm also coming up with new ideas for Bomber Apocalypse all the time.. By the way, FatPuffin - when Bomber Apocalypse gets into production fully (around November due to university) I'll start sending the theme ideas out to you (and anyone else who applied to do music for BA) so you can create music to match the game.. I'm trying to get everything perfect in this game.. Craig (God of "Don't blame me, blame Lynx" text formatting..)

Hmm... as I have come to expect, the only person not jumping on the "Kill Realm!!" bandwagon is , as usual , Silky. While the extremists are clenching their fists and jumping up and down , she has refrained to comment... and it *is* her site , after all..
Let's look at this objectively : if the page turns out good, good. If not, well there is always Silky's. No-one is suggesting that we should all leave our beloved site and march off, Pied-Piper of Hamlyn style after this army of Aol'ers... They were just telling us about this great sounding new site, just as we all do with our crappy user homepages every day.. And let's face it, a very large homepage made by several seasoned webmasters sounds better than a few "half assed" user homepages (and NO , I do not mean Silky's , I mean our own pages. I am not worthy of making comment about The Site. :-) ).
***DON'T FLAME ME!!***

In other news, I definately think that Anders's page is very much "Rikus's page with less stuff and crap reviews". There. I've said it. I mean , he gave Eggit Gold a worse review than The Extacy!! Crap or what?? And he gave Variable Resistance a *good* review!! I would rather play Space Invaders than VR ,it's a better game and much smaller.. No , I tell a lie, I'd rather disembowel myself than play VR. No offense , whoever made VR...
Also , the Game Of the Week graphic is so blatantly ripped off that I'm not even going to mention it again...

**AGAIN , DON'T FLAME ME!!**

Klik & Play Universe, Majestic Realm - Monday, August 11, 1997 at 18:50:36 (CDT)

Okay, okay, OKAY!

This is getting ridiculous! All I cam here to do was post a message telling you all of a new K&P/CC&C/TGF site, and everyone here goes on the defensive! Why? Who cares if there is another large site coming soon? Does that mean Silky's will be gone? NO, of course not, and thats what everyone here is sounding like.
As for Silky, yes I understand she has a life, as do Ryan and I. As an employed performing magician, and an actor, I know what it is like to work a lot, and have no time. Hell, I'm leaving for my business major in college in a few weeks.
As The Realm promise is stated, I will try to update the site daily, whether it means to find the time before a class, or what not. Now as I go through these new posts here at the Wall, I am getting angered, because everyone is pointing fingers at everyone.

Jon- Whoevever you are, you have NO RIGHT to say that everyone who comes to THE WALL everyday is superior. I am glad you have pride for The Wall community, but I am sure many of the Wall visiotrs would disagree with you. You don't know Ryan or the games he has made, and you don't even know me. So accusations like that are offbase and ridiculous. By the way, there will be a WALL-like interface at The Majestic Realm.

Silky- We didn't come in here to bash you or your site, and we didn't come in here specifically to point out how you don't update your library as often as you would like. We came here to share with everyone a new site we are working on, and yes we are damn proud of it. As for your comments about AOL games, since you last went to The Post to bring in games for your library(A few years ago it must have been), a WHOLE NEW generation of Knpers have arrived. There are now so many talented gamecreators in the Maxis area, and if you took the time to see some of the games that we have all made, YOU would be impressed.
These last few posts just go to show that many of you don't have ANY respect for the AOL Klik & Play Community. Even Silky herself has some prejudices. That upsets me,but I'll tell you this... that will all change after The Majestic Realm launches.

Now just ask yourself why we are going to a great many strides to make The Realm successful. I think it is quite clear now.

Kevin Smets :)

Hey guys,

RE: Game updates. Yes, I am way behind...I also have a limited amount of space to work with, and time to do this in. I've tried to set this place up where the main attraction is the interaction between the users, not just downloading games.

When I put up a new batch of games, I also put up a vote page, not only can the author look, to see how it's going over, but others that want to be a little more choosey in their downloads can look over the scores.

I personally open each and every game, make sure all the parts are there, and the thing will actually install and start before I put it up. My only gripe over on AOL (yes...most of the games that I started this site with came from their archive) was that about one out of three games were incomplete, or uninstallable after download. They were uploaded, never tested, and also never taken down if they were bad files. Of course...AOL has a vested interest in keeping folks online as long as possible. I'm sure they could care less if someone wasted an hour downloading a file that was corrupt or incomplete.

Now, if you'd like me to just dump files online, no vote, no guarantees, for a specific amount of time, that's fine by me. Sure would be a heck of a lot less work on my part. Course...they'd only be able to stick around for two or three weeks, and they'd be deleted regardless of quality. And I also don't want any nasty letters that the only thing in the file was setup, and none of the rest. I'd say about one out of five submissions I receive (at least) are not postable for one reason or another. The biggest problem is not including all the necessary files, i.e., just sending setup

Hello everyone...
I fixed the bug in Terragon!
Samkim: It wasn't the fact that I needed the update (even though I should get it anyways, which I did anyways :). The problem was that instead of saying 'Start' after the jumping off the rope routine, I said 'Set speed to 40'. Apparantly that makes a difference.
Anyways, I'm planning on 15 levels and a BONUS LEVEL (fanfare!). I have the engine done so all I have to do are the levels. Woo-hoo! Personally, so far it is my personal favortite game I've made/making. I sent Samkim the problemified demo and he fixed it and said he liked it. I think.
But any's way, it should be done in a week (at the pace I'm going heheheh).

People probably defend Silky's because it has been around for so long and nobody likes change. If RyanSPK and Smets97 want to create their own K&P/TGF/C&C site, by all means, go ahead. That's their own decision, and they could have even decided not to announce it on the wall.

I realize Silky does update the wall and so forth, but the games libs, yes they don't get updated too often. I have a right to say what I think, flame all you want, but I am right on this.

Ry Guy, I come to Silky's not for the games, but to read the wall (almost an addiction) you can learn a lot of things. With out the Wall I would be a creator. And the wall is a place where truly only the most elite TGF\CNC\KNP creators come. Most of these people here on the wall that post everyday are the best creators you will see. Yes there probably are some great creators at AOL, but I doubt that they come close to here. If The Realm turns out great then I will visit there everyday, but I won't stop visiting the wall. Also leave Silky alone, unlike some people she has a very busy life and just cuz she can't upload 15+ games every week doesn't meen she isn't giving us a great service.

Hey Rik, can you make sure the guy that did that review for RV-Unplugged reads this? It isn't a flame -- just criticism. Sorry, I messed up the second point: here it is again. Secondly...  Um, I'm on Lynx, a text-only browser. Maybe if I saw the graphics I would understand, but as of now, I can't imagine what first saying "...music could be a lot better" and then "Samkim music it's great" is supposed to mean. Hmm... Hey Rik, can you make sure the guy that did that review for RV-Unplugged reads this? It isn't a flame -- just criticism. Firstly... I did all the music for that game excepting the one after the vacuum scene. If my music sounds bad on FM synthesis (if he was using a Sound Blaster it probably won't sound good), it's FM's fault -- not mine. Rest assured, the soundtrack sounds MUCH better on a PSR-510. I can send you a .WAV if you don't understand. Secondly...  Um, I'm on Lynx, a text-only browser. Maybe if I saw the graphics I would understand, but as of now, I can't imagine what first saying "...music could be a lot better" and then "Samkim music it's great". Hmm... Thirdly... I reiterate, please listen to this music on a Yamaha keyboard. If you still think it sounds junky, tell me. Just a thought -- isn't reviewing music written on a high-quality keyboard without anything like FM synthesis like reviewing graphics made in 24-bit color on a monitor capable of displaying only sixteen? Something is lost in the translation. --MusicSamkim P.S. Sprite, I tried to d/l Sira and couldn't. I'll try again later. :)

To all of you who say that Silky's isn't maintained as often as it should be, I can prove otherwise. Earlier today, a ten page spam letter was posted on the wall. By tonight, silky had it deleted. I don't think people are giving enough credit to silky for this site. Sure, the GAME libraries aren't updated very often, but that's what the WALL is for... to give us the URLs of the homepages of authors where we can GET the games. I see the purpose of Silky's as being AUTHOR INFORMATION EXCHANGE, not a game download site. If you want that, there are thousands of game-download sites on the Internet, and AOL. If you want games, don't come to silky's. Go to an arcade.

Just my $0.02, send any flames to IWontGet@ThisEmail.com.

There is not only two people working on this, well maybe 3 :) But really, we have about 6 so far. Since Maxis is leaving AOL (probably a good idea) The Realm will be worked at even more.
Why not go to Silky's? Lack of updates... that's what most everyone at AOL's opinion is. Silky last updated games July. I know it's hard work to do all that, but we will find time to update the Realm daily.

If you have an CnC games as of now you want to review, I'll be glad to review them and upload them if needed.

Maxis has an AOL site? I thought it was just on the www. Well I don't think they are dropping the site because AOL is too controlling. Maxis was bought by Electronic Arts. Maxis's page and BBS at www.maxis.com are coming down soon I think. I hope the EA page is better, I'll check it out sometime. Today maybe.

Hiya all ... been working on my game day on, day off ...

Kevin Smets, I now see your site from a different point of view. I do remember an article in PC Gamer Online about Apogee leaving AOL, since AOL demanded a lot of money for a popular forum on their services. You can always stay at Silky's, but here some people may be too over-hyping and critical ... unlike the docile Maxis AOL site. So I think The Realm is going to be a great project, and I look forward to it.

California The Realm :) - Sunday, August 10, 1997 at 15:52:12 (CDT)

Hello guys, :)

I understand all of your concerns, and I completely agree with all of your statements. Something like The Realm WILL BE difficult, and will not go all smoothly at first. I am happy to see that you guys responded in respect and friendliness, which is something I was afraid wouldn't happen.

Again, please hear me out, we do NOT want to take anyone away from here, I LOVE this place, I visit it almost daily. The purpose of The Realm is to hopefully serve as an alternative, "a second stop" if you even want to put it that way.

Another reason we are striving for The Realm so much is because here at AOL, the "Maxis" area is leaving on Sept 1st (I don't blame them, AOL is getting too controlling). Thus leaving at least 75 dedicated Maxis area community members with almost no place to go. They have now heard of The Realm and are optimistic again, as The Realm will reunite the community that was so strong here at AOL (like us or not).

I sincerely HOPE that The Realm meets all of the expectations that I have created. Please remember that I am EXCITED about this venture, and I am an extremely "the glass is half full" kind of guy. Thank you again for being so welcome and friendly to me, the Realm crew (more than 2 by the way), and the idea we have relayed onto you.

Kevin :)

The Realm sounds like a great idea and a good alternative to Silky's. But great ideas aren't always has great when there done. Think about this, just two people making a huge site and then promising an update almost everyday! And having all the reader input to the site, you will have to go through tons of e-mail and then update all those sections. Thats just saying you will have a ton of readers. I have seen other sites in the past that promise all that, but with no reader support. You must also have a lot of spare time on your hands. Typeing html for each page, desinging graphics uploading stuff, telling people about your site so people will visit. I don't think it will be possible. If finished not even has close to has good has it sounds. But go ahead prove me wrong.

Well I've been working on my Mini-game for two hours now. And I already have...
A Problem! (Bum bum badadada)
Basically, here is what happens:
'Terragon' is hanging onto a rope. He moves back and forth with the following event:
REPEAT WHILE RIGHT ARROW IS PRESSED
TERRAGON IS OVERLAPPING H-CABLE
Set position of 'Terragon' to 1,0 relative to Terragon
Set Alterable Value A of Terragon to 5

and vice versa, the value of A then being 10.

Terragon leaps bravely off the rope.
(This is an example. There are actually 4 events for leaping off the rope.)

TERRAGON IS OVERLAPPING H-CABLE
ALTERABLE VALUE A OF TERRAGON IS 5
DOWN ARROW IS PRESSED
--
Set position of Terragon to 0,16 relative to Terragon
Set speed of Terragon to 40
Set direction of Terragon to Southwest
Set alterable value A of Terragon to 0

Terragon then careens into a wall.

TERRAGON COLLIDES WITH NORMAL WALL
Bounce Terragon

TERRAGON IS OVERLAPPING NORMAL WALL
ALTERABLE VALUE A OF TERRAGON = 0
Bounce Terragon

Okay, that's the basics. If you need clarification, let me know.
Basically, what happens is when Terragon collides with Normal Wall AFTER leaping bravely off of either H-cable or V-Cable, he doesn't bounce and he just continues on into the void!
This is rather annoying and he MUST bounce off the wall to continue the game.
Please help!
Oh, you might have figured out by now, but the name of the mini-game is 'Terragon'. I don't know how many levels I should put on it. I'm leaning towards 20. Opinions?

Hi Kevin, Sounds like your new planned site " The Realm" will be
a great site and when it comes online I hope to visit often. I wouldn't
worry about taking Silky's customers away, just focus on having a
great site and the people will visit often. As for Silk's, in my opinion, its a
a good site but has declined over the last year. There are very few new games posted
and the same 25 or so regulars visit the wall almost every day. So
don't let a few of the Silky's diehards discourage you in your efforts. again, good luck
with the new site and I look forward to soon visit it!!

Hello all you ppl..
I haven't posted in a while since I got my ol' C64/128 out yesterday. But that wasn't K&P related, so you can destroy it like the Post Page destroys an HTML tag.
Basically, I have started Star Legion over from scratch. I didn't like the interface on the first one, and the second is turning out to be much better.
On another note, I am going to do a mini-game today. I haven't found a nice name yet, and I'm not disclosing the gameplay. All you know is that I am going to make a mini-game today. So there.
'The Realm' sounds interesting. Maybe it and Silky's could be sister pages. :)
Rikus: I know what it's like to have your ISP go boom. It happens over here al the time, like once the ISP changed its phone number and didn't tell anyone, and you would literally have to dial 200 times to get connected. Whee fun! :)
Well that's all I have to say now, bye!

Rikus,
About your programs not thinking you're online...
This happened to me, once, too. I called up Globalnet for assistance, and they told me to make shortcuts on the Windows Desktop for all my Internet software. To do this, I clicked on the desktop with the right mouse button, went down the menu to New, then Shortcut. When the Shortcut window pops up, make a link to, let's say, C:\Mirc\mirc32.exe (Or whatever you use for mIRC.)
When the shortcut has been created, click on it with the right mouse button, then go into "Properties". Switch the page from "General" to "Shortcut", and where it says "Start In", trying putting the directory where your Euronet Winsock is. You don't need to actually link to the Exe file, just the directory itself. I can't guarantee that this will work, but it's worth a try..
I'm sorry for posting this on the Wall, but Rikus can only get on the
WWW and I don't think he can recieve e-mail.

Martin

It's that time of the week which is spelled with several extra letters again and this time my homepage has been updated.

http://home4.swipnet.se/~w-49877

I noticed that the link to my page on knpt is old, fix that please.

Two (not that hard to figure out) Vitalize tips: I read somewhere that the resize to fill current window wont work in a Vitalize game. Thats not true, to stop it from filling the browser window just set with and height to 640*480 in the html document. Apart from using the plug-in object to open urls you can also use it to send e-mails.

OK, Jon Hill, Please do NOT construe this as a flame, rather constructive criticism...

On your knp page, on the reviews section, where did you get all that info?
Crystalis was for the NES, not the SNES. The graphics are not hand drawn, but from the original game. The music is not original, but also from the original game. If the graphics have been rushed, blame SNK or Nintendo, not me.

Again, please do not take this as a flame, and please nobody else start flaming him because of it. I just want to point out that there is some innacurate information floating around about Crystalis. This is one of my only means of publicly announcing it, before somebody starts flaming me for stealing people's graphics and calling it original, or SNK filing a lawsuit against me. In the future, my only request is that you ask me about the game, rather than making assumptions. You could get me into a lot of trouble. I am not angry, just concerned.

Hey gang...I haven't been here in ages (lets try...hmmm...a year) but unless the guys at the Realm have no jobs...I dont see The Realm happening. So don't get your panties in a bunch and the guys from the Realm can flame me from here to hell and back but, the wall vetrans know...hell..internet vetrans know, that a site that big can't be done with just 2 people to start with. If Euopress can't keep up with us or Corel, why do you think these two guys can do the same? Hey, thanks Realm dudes for blowing smoke up our butts, and its a damn good idea what you want to do, but, by the time you get the page up and running, all the info will be outdated...Unless, you started this project like 6 months ago and are borderline almost ready to go...OR...the page will be crap and half assed.

Kid

PS-There is nothing wrong with having two places to go to. Why in the world would you give up one site for another. Don't limit yourself...explore explore explore. Thats why I haven't been here..plus I haven't written a game in ages, but thats soon to change though..stay tuned .....

OKay, alright, enough. :)

Just to makes some things clear, I didn't come here to try to "draw away the Silky's crowd", that was never my intention. My intention was to let some of you aware of the endeaver that my friends and I are undertaking, and inquiring as to whether any of you would like your company or your games featured at our site.
That was my only intention. As someone who has a lot of respect and honor for Silky, I see The Realm as almost in honor of Silky's, as we are attempting to recreate the magic that she has started here, only to the next level.
By the way, we have unlimited space for our site, thus we are not using entirely AOL server space. (I myself plan to leave AOL sometime after college starts.)

Again, please don't misrepresent what my post was to do... inform you all of a new site coming soon, just as I see URLS posted here all the time.

Welcome Kevin! Glad to meet another AOL knp'er... I was one before I discovered the wild `n wonderful world of TCP/IP. Since then, AOL has seemed kinda lame to me, but oh well...

Glad to hear about your web site. I was PLANNING to have a site as comprehensive as that on my server, when I finally get it up (hopefully by the end of the month), but I know that such an enormous site requires administration by more than one person, and noone seemed willing to help me administer it.

I'm downloading Sim-Fish right now.
