The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Unknown Game 4506
I've never played the first Diamond game, but this download looked interesting. Once I started playing it, it did not disappoint at all. Immediately when you start, a professional looking logo and title screen pop up with a super cool 3D crystal rotating in the back. That's just the beginning to this amazing action/puzzle game, though. Presentation: The presentation to the game was indeed, as I've said before, very professional. The text in the game all has a super cool font and shadowed color effect to it. Also, the game made a great display of fading transitions throughout every frame. For that, the presentation earns a healthy 10/10!
Gameplay: The gameplay as well as the presentation was really well-made. The gameplay is original, fast-paced, and most importantly, fun! Basically, you control a colored ball left & right as it bounces up and down. The object is to hit the exit block to get to the next level. It's not that easy though! There are colored diamonds in your way that can only be destroyed if your color matches theirs. There are also many other obstacles such as crystals, death blocks, and wood blocks that must be destroyed with a bomb for example. The only flaw with the gameplay would be the antisink engine used for the ball. Rather than just bouncing off of obstacles, you are pushed off instead, making it easy to run into a death block right above the harmless block you just bounced off of. I must say that this gameplay deserves a 9!
Graphics: For the most part, the graphics in the game are awesome! However, there are a few areas that could use improvement. On the logo, the electric effect could be improved. Because the electric particles are pasted on, it looks more like spraypaint rather than electricity, but that's just my opinion. Graphics-wise, the different parts(worlds) of the game don't change, really. I the parts would look a lot better if some of the blocks had different colors for each part, or maybe a background effect for each part(nothing flashy though). I'll give the graphics an 8/10.
Sound and Music: All the sounds and music in the game are perfect! Rather than using midis, this game was taken a step further in music and uses mods instead. Very professional!
The sound effects are well chosen as well! This category earns itself a whopping 10/10! Lastability: With all the extras(including a level editor), this game could last a long time. However, for no reason at all(this happens for me at least), the game sometimes randomly quits. This gets frustrating, especially when the player is half-way through one of the parts. However, if the bug had not existed, I'd say the lastability of this game deserves a big 10/10!
This game is well worth the download with its excellent presentation, gameplay, and the extras taht come with it. Although the game is a whopping 12mb(which isn't really bad if you have cable or broadband), it is definitely worth the wait!
