STRIFE'S REVIEW: Furballs

Although this game wasn't very popular when it was submitted to the Daily Click, I feel that it deserves more attention, for it is one of the better platform adventure games to arrive at TDC.

Why, you ask? Let's see...

>>PRESENTATION: 9

Furballs has a cartoony theme, which fits well with the storyline. A mysterious person/thing has stolen all the candy from Furland and replaced it with icky tomatoes. Joe (you) descides to follow the trail of tomatoes and get the candy back!

The title screen and main menu have some decent effects as well.

>>GAMEPLAY: 8

In Furballs, the aim of each stage is to reach the goal post at the end while hurling tomatoes at your enemies. It's pretty unique and fun, too!

Another suprising, yet awesome, feature are the overhead maps you can move around in, much like in Mario Bros 3. This adds a great feel to the game.

There are 6 worlds, and all of them are completely different from one another. The bosses at the end of each world are equally impressive.

The downside? Bugginess. The bugs and flaws in Furballs could have been fixed prior to the game's release. But, strangely enough, the game runs fine on some computers, and crappy on others. I would suggest visiting http://home.coqui.net/mujicas and trying out the demo to see if it runs good on your computer.

>>GRAPHICS: 10

No doubt, Furballs has beautiful graphics. All the characters and levels look like they were hand-drawn (think Yoshi's Island), and the transparency effects (such as the water) add an extra touch to an already good-looking game. ¡Hola guapo!

I especialy loved the thunder and lightning effects in the first Poopoonia level.

But, the game's window is large, at 640x480. Although this makes the game look a LOT better than most 320x240 platform games, it is a major downside if you have a slow computer.

>>SOUND AND MUSIC: 10

The hills (of Furland) are aliiiive, with sound of muuuuusic!!!

Furballs has a tight musical soundtrack, featuring MIDI musics from over a dozen talented composers. They fit almost perfectly with the graphics and gameplay. The wacky sound effects are a plus as well.

>>LASTABILITY: 8

Many of the stages are short, but that won't stop you from having the best furry-dang time you had! Even if you beat the game, chances are you'll want to play again and again.*

*(Opinions may vary. Studies do not reflect nor guarentee such results for others.)

>>OVERALL: 10

Your opinion on this game may be different if it doesn't run well on your PC, but it runs great on mine, and all I can say is WOW!

Indeed, this is one of the best platform klik-games i've played.
