Hmm, odd little game this. Solid engine and decent character sprites fall prey to Gamesfactory Music, and Poor Backgrounds.

Story:
There isn't a story of which to speak of, but it's probably that your a treasure hunter or something.

Graphics:
Mixed bag, but thankfully not in the Mixed Bittages way.
The main character has a well animatied walk sprite, and is shaded quite well. The other characters are also shaded well, and then theres the gems which are fine.
There's also a neat little score thing that pops out when-ever you collect something or kill an enemy.
The backgrounds, how-ever, are rather poor, the first level's backdrop is the worst, since the others have nicer patterns to them.
The floors are well shaded still, which is a good thing. But the floors never change I don't think, only the backdrop.

Sound:
Plings and pings, from the Games Factory no less.
But they sound alright so that's ok.

Music:
One major downfall of the game.
It's straight from the Games Factory, which now i'm sick and tired of hearing. Next time, try searching on the internet.
I'd rather have Movie Midis or Video Game Midis than anything from teh Games Factory.

Presentation:
Very sloppy, the Title screen is basic at best, and the menu options over lap each other.
Still that scrolling text at the bottom is alright.
In game theres a HUD at the top of the screen, which is decent enough.

Gameplay:
Nice and simple. Collect all the blue gems and reach the finish line.
The character uses one button and the arrow keys, and that's it. Very simple, simplier than Mario Bros or Sonic 1.
It's nice, and has a very solid engine. No bugs here.
It isn't platform movement, which is always a plus, and since the character doesn't speed up, wall collision isn't bouncy.
There's also Springs, which most games forget.
Very nice, although the level design could be a bit more improved, since theres many pixel perfect jumps in the game.

Lastablity:
The game has 4 short levels. Nothing to write home about.

Replayablity:
Possibly, it's nice and short, so you might come back to it.

Overall:
It's nice and solid. Simply gameplay, and is a game you could probably play while half stoned.
How-ever there are a few bad points to the game.
Ah well, the game has possibility for a Sequal.

Plus:
* Simply little game.
* Good character sprites.
* Solid engine.
* Good download size for the game's size.

Minus:
* Games Factory Music.
* Bad backgrounds.
* Some sloppy level designs.
* Sloppy presentation.

Some niggles to clean up, if you ever revist the Gem Walker game as a series, take those into account.
