I don't think I'll do a public beta test for chapter 1, but I'll occasionally recruit new testers, if I need more feedback. So stick around, leave some comments and feedback... and maybe I'll invite you aboard at some point.

Cool! Since i found your project (if you interest - from PixelProspector) i every day check this project page for news, unfortunately you rarely post a news  But i understand - it's not to easy to make a game. When are you planning to release the game?)
Other question: you are a designer, right?) Very few people can draw as well as you)
And good realization of earth bullets spell (like from Avatar) And awesome lightning spell, very beautiful, judging by screenshot)

Oh, I thought I post too often. xP
Anyways, there's stuff I want to keep secret for the public release, so I only post essential stuff. Wouldn't want to show off every spell, enemy, etc in advance.
I'm not a designer by profession (well, partially), but I dabble in various visual stuff.
The release of Chapter 1 is likely early 2012. Could be this year too, if I have enough time and motivation, but that's the best estimate I can make.

You mean spirit crystals? They're one of several crafting/upgrade items. You can use them to upgrade armor, or eventually to craft weapons or accessories. For now only armor upgrades are available though.
