Very small update!

This is mostly to keep momentum going here.

The battle system is taking steps towards full functionality! Some major expressions have been worked out, such as how Damage is calculated, and moves can now properly be 'performed' (higher speed goes first, similar speed moves may 'Clash'!). I'm just working on getting all the effects of moves going - like boosts to Strength, or self-healing effects, stuff like that.

Once that's done, I'll probably get the core work for animation and battle dialogues ("It's super effective!"), so I don't have to rely on console/debug to tell me what happened in each round.

I wish I had something more graphical to show! Maybe scans of some creature designs?

well given that the battle system is almost complete, what about some gameplay videos?

I should have something nice to show by the end of the week. Right now all I can show is some counters changing and text lines appearing in a console.

The foundations are there for animation, though! Exciting!

Im just a little confused. You described a ton of mechanics that work, such as leveling up,learning moves, etc. So if you have all that, how can there be hardly any gameplay?

Ah, sorry. It's that most of it is kind of 'under the hood' work. Most everything that I want to happen is done via test keys (spawning creatures, entering battle), and there is no real game world to walk around yet. In battle, only the attack menu is done, and you can see creature stamina being drained and health being damaged. Creatures don't even 'faint' yet, and there's only 'Averagemon' with 4 very similar moves.

Perhaps I'll still get a video together, though. Maybe there's more to show than I think. Adding another creature and giving them some more moves will be simple. Should be fun

I see... yeah perhaps you made it sound like there was more than there was

I'll watch the vid now!
