Project Overview
Preview Noah's Express is a simple puzzle game based on the great DC/GBA title Chu Chu Rocket, but with a few added twists...

You have to guide your trusty train (and following carriages) through all the towns, picking up your various animal friends along the way, and avoiding the hard-hatted moles that are intent on stopping you AND your tracks. All you have is a handful of helpful arrows and (hopefully,) a bit of cunning.

A fully-functional combined level and level pack editor are planned so you can share your puzzles around, with a whole host of characters to discover and also create. This, along with an original set of easy to fiendish designs, will make sure your mental faculties are occupied and entertained for at least a short while...

Look out for it sometime in 2010 (?)

Another long overdue update.

Since the last call, I've overhauled the whole system to have a larger screen, with a fairly neat level editor whilst Adam has decided to overhaul all the graphics again.

So the screenshots are what the game no longer looks like. Hurray!

Hoping for a release in 2010. Hoping...
Work Begins Again!

Yes. Having finished all final year exams (and with any luck, passing them as well), work has begun in earnest on the newly-titled Noah's Express.

The editor(s) are being rebuilt from scratch as they previously stored levels as a stack of objects rather than an grid-based array so it was getting a little messy. Hopefully by the end of the week we'll have a set of tools to start fleshing out the main game properly. Adam's also working on new graphics so the screenshots may look slightly different in the future.

Also note I put a little splash screen page up at http://www.jrnetwork.co.uk/projects/train but there's not a lot there yet.

At the moment, the game engine is complete, the level editor is completely functional (although quite breakable in the wrong hands).

What I'm waiting for now is for me to get MMF2 so I can make a decent level pack format (need the extra extensions, innit) that can store storylines/descriptions/etc... as well as the levels, the order, etc.

Also big on the 'To-do' list is making levels. As some of you may know, the original Chu Chu Rocket had hundreds of levels circulated for it, and there's no reason why this can't happen here (eventually). For now, I'm going to wait and make the level editor a bit more stable before I let any man and his dog at it, but if anybody is interested in making levels, drop me a mail or something. I'll have to put you through your paces first...

And without further ado, two screenshots of the current state are here for your viewing pleasure. I have to say, Adam's done a great job so far, and you haven't even seen the half of it.
