A real time strategy game in the making for iOS. All graphics and code are designed by myself. I'm going to try to keep it simple at first so I can eventually get myself to finish it and then add more to it later. Some features that I plan on implementing:

- Random World Generator (4k by 4k worlds)
- Four resources (food, wood, metal, and gold)
- Tutorial
- Around 5-10 missions in story mode
- Quick play game mode
- Multiple unit selection
- At least 15 different buildings and 15 different units
- General AI that changes according to your actions

All of these are susceptible to change in the future.

Relics

I thought of an interesting idea to innovate the use of the iOS features. There's going to be buried relics scattered around the map (probably only 1-3 per map) and you'll be able to dig the grass tiles to try to uncover it. There will be a character with the ability to detect if the relic is nearby in-game. So theoretically you'll scout the map with him in your group and the iOS device will start to vibrate if it's nearby (I'll probably add thought bubble exclamation points for iOS devices without vibrate). That will give you a good indication to start digging around that site. If you find the relic, it'll give you a gold multiplier so you can earn gold faster. Here's a screenshot of the frame sequence when it becomes unveiled:

(It's an ancient clock representing faster gold income for your village)


The relics and gaining gold faster was a feature from the game "Age of Empires II". I thought I would add some more features to make the concept seem more interesting. Tell me what you think.
Graphical Changes

So I was looking back at the terrain graphics today and damn... those rocks look horrible, haha. So I reworked them a bit so they look more natural with the pine trees. I also decided to take the bare trees out at the moment, however I may rework them later possibly. Here's a screenshot of the new rocks:

The top sprites are taken out of the game. The bottom sprites replace them.

Unit Creation

I was thinking of ways to keep the HUD simplistic but also powerful since it's being optimized for iOS with small screens. I came up with this design for creating units. You click on a building and it'll become selected. A popup shows up asking if you want to check your units.

If you click yes then the HUD at the bottom will scroll up and reveal more options for creating units. This way the units will be specific for each building. For example if you selected a ranch you would be able to create more horses for the cavalry, etc.
