Core of Innocence is a good old fashioned side-scrolling platformer game, playing in a similar vein to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Super Metroid. It has been in production for almost five years now, this being the fifth iteration over a ten year span of various attempts, learning, building, and improving upon the original concepts. Once complete, the game will be free for all to play, with the possibly of expanding later down the road.

Just thought that I would share a video that I posted for some progress of CoI, so you guys know the project is definitely still alive, and that I just suck at updating. This is one of the optional bosses you can fight in the ruins area. I noticed after getting the video made and finalized that the boss doesn't even do one of its attacks. Guess I killed it too fast, heh. It has a pool of five attacks it can use at random, and it can only be damaged while the center gem is active.
I fought it wearing the best attack gear available in the game so it was a pretty quick fight. The average player would probably not be quite as decked out for this fight so I expect it to maybe be a 3-5 minute battle.
I'm happy to finally announce that I have completed all sixty enemies! They can all be spawned and fought in the testing level, and are currently going through debugging with the test group. I still need to add in some of the various sound effects but otherwise they all function! It's been a long uphill challenge to get all of these enemies completed and I must say it feels really good to have it behind me for the most part.
That being said, I've moved onto getting the bosses in game! Below is a sneak peek at the first boss of the Frozen Wastes area, Eyecycle! Originally this boss was designed as a flying machine thing, but looking back at my story, makes no sense for machinery to be in this portion of the game world so I opted for something more organic. In my opinion it turned out much better and is a much more interesting boss design.
Also, in celebration of hitting this pretty big milestone for CoI, we gave our site and logo a fresh new look ! Be sure to check it out as there has been a good handful of new media uploaded for your viewing pleasure!
Here is a brief progress list of what we still have left to do in game:
-Add final sound effects and debugging/tweaking on the basic enemies
-Finish bosses
-Add in loot table for monsters, then distribute treasure chests and quest rewards
-Add in the remaining quests
-Final game world polishing and bug fixes
-Release!
Thanks for reading, and keep an eye out for future updates!
