Old Demo Goodies / Engine Reworkings.
Posted 6th Jun 10, by [Joel]-[Poobical] Post A Comment
Well I've decided today to modify the engine due to that it's getting more and more messy as development moves forward. (I'm sure alot of you know what I mean...) I'm redoing the weapon system too. I'm not changing it like drastically just adding a new touch of secondary weapon functions. Basically speaking, your character get's a new power while using that weapon. (For example the Hornet Boomer allows you to double jump and glide down.) I've also re-sprited the HUD so it looks less like the one in NL2 as people been saying...and to be honest I really like my new HUD design. <3.

So with me re-doing the engine (and making all the gimmicks at once rather than when I need them in the stage) I'm sad to say the demo I've been going on about will take alot longer to produce...so I'm releasing all previous demos/bits and bobs of the last year. (I'm releasing the demo I was just working on too.)

In them you got:
Echo Sphere (The original)
Twin Gunner (The 8-Way Shooter one / Christmas Time)
Force Gunner (The I was going to release soon.)

The controls for Echo and Force are:
Arrows = Move
Shift = Jump
Control = Fire.

And in Twin.
Z = Jump
X = Fire (Press again for a double jump)

There are bugs in the demos, and I know them, but because there not "final versions" just ignore them.

Hope ye like me little update ^^

Demo Half Way There.
Posted 5th Jun 10, by [Joel]-[Poobical] 3 Comments
Just to say the demo is half way through being finished for release. (Basically I've nearly finished one stage.) I've got two more "acts" to layout and to code and sprite the boss "Wind Force".

Anyway yeah I've got some pictures of a cutscene in the stage. (The Link look-alike is my friend Kendra She's my main beta tester ye see...and a huge Zelda fan.)

Anyway hopefully be released in a fortnight but don't hold your breath because...well yanno sometime tends to delays things sadly.)

Coming Along Nicely
Posted 1st Jun 10, by [Joel]-[Poobical] 5 Comments
Happy Birthday to me!

Haha that out of the way, the Opening Stage (which will be the demo) is coming along nicely. I've changed some stuff and added lives in just so you don't have to play through the whole stage if you die. (If you die, you'll start back at the beginning of the stage's act.)

Also I've resprited the sword boss aswell as completely redoing the boss attack patterns sort of. 'Eres the new sword sprite :3

Also I've added "Megaman Spikes" which kill you in one hit...because I'm feeling rather mean.

I don't know when the demo will be finished but I'm hoping it's soon

Hope ya like,

I'ma going to be posting alot of development shots for the next week to catch up on missed of devlogs. :3 Most of them will underline what's going to be in the demo...and some sneak peaks of whats in the full game.

Anyway three pictures...

This is a mid boss for the opening stage:
"Hycruel Shield Mid Boss"
Image

"Me fighting the Hycruel Shield Boss with my modified SNES USB controller." (Key-signed...I dunno how to do controller stuff on TGF)
Image

"Stage Select" (Most stuff blanked out...keeping most of it a secret hehe)

Hope ye like...game development is now back on course, due to the fact I have windows Vista on this PC and not 7. (7 disagrees with TGF1)
