Project Overview
Preview -ExoEarth-

ExoEarth is a platformer entailing the desperate quest of one man.

During a routine scouting mission, a British space craft is shot down and forced to ditch on an uncharted planet. Most of the crew eject from the ship before it ploughs into the desert, but Jethro Evans' ejector seat malfuntions, leaving him in the ship as it crash-lands.

The crew who managed to eject are captured and enslaved by a race which lives on the planet. Jethro, however, survives the crash and is undetected by the hostile race. The ship's engines are badly damaged, but it is the crew's only lifeline off the planet. is up to Jethro 'Jetter' Evans to free his crew and find the parts to repair the ship.

The game is in a very early stage of development. It is my second project alongside 'Timmy in the Magic Cave', although it departs from TMC's retro stylings to have a clean, modern look.

Screenies are here. I don't think my hosting site allows direct linking.. so I'll have to stick with little links for now. Ah well.

These screenshots are really out of date. Check the devlogs for current screenshots. -James

^ This is Jetter at the current start of the game. The game so far consists of this screen and the one in the next pictures.

^Jetter and one of the shuttles in the game. Jetter has the ability to hijack these and use them for long distance transport. However, thay are far more easily detected by enemies.

^Once Jetter is on board the shuttle, you can control it with the arrow keys.

And so, an area select cometh forth.

And how!
There is now a new area select page place thingy. Put simply, it works like such. On the title screen, after you press a key when "ExoEarth" is on the screen, the text disappears and you rotate the planet with the left and right arrow keys. A dot will appear on the world when a selectable area is in the middle of the screen. You then press space bar and you are whisked away to the area of your choice.

This feature will be in Build 004 - which will be available soon!

It's a new title card..

Because the old title card sucked. I decided to replace it with this one. The planet in the background is a 3D Mesh object, and rotates around.

Build 003: Release notes (as included with the ZIP)

ExoEarth build 003 12/11/08 (UK)
Readme

This is still a development build. It is not a game as such so far. There is nothing to accomplish at the moment. This build is to test and prove level design.

ON THE TITLE SCREEN
Press the keys on your number bar (above the QWERTY row) at the title screen:
1 - To access the non-functioning area select. The graphics for this level are not completed yet and neither is the programming. You can't do anything here.
2 - To access the 'Greek Ruins' area. This stage is highly incomplete and I personally do not like it. Unless there is voice otherwise, this area is likely to be cut - or at least have graphics that fit in. The 'laser sunlight' approach I was looking for didn't really work out.
3 - To access the 'Desolate' area. Incomplete but work in progress.
4 - To access the underwater station. This area is by far the most complete. The level design is incomplete and things such as picking up the female crew member here have not been implemented yet.

Press F2 to return to the title and ALT-F4 to quit.

Thank you for downloading ExoEarth!
