THE GREAT NORMAL BROTHERS

PROJECT OBJETIVE: Create a video game that imitates the mechanics and aspects of an AMIGA video game

RELEASE DATE: UNKNOWN, demos will be released on the way

HELP WANTED: Testers and a music composer (sequenced)

This Video Game is based directly on two titles that were released in the second half of the 80's, Super Mario Brothers (For the Nintendo Entertainment System, 1985) and The Great Giana Sisters (For the Commodore 64 and Amiga computers, 1987). Features 16-Bit graphics with music that contains instruments from old Video Game Consoles.

It combines already existant concepts from many old Video Games along with new concepts such as: Bonus Stages, various types of gameplay, and much more. It's not good as the original games, but it's made with the intention of remembering the good old times with new characters.

The game's development started in the year 2009, and the engine took about 12 months to complete.

STORY
The game's storyline is completely fictional, but the main characters exist in real life, they are respectively Me, and my brother Antonio.

In December of the year 2010: Marco, with some assistance of his big brother Antonio, programmed fictional computer game called: "The Great Normal Brothers"

Its story was centered in themselves and their silly adventures in a ficticious world. However, while they were playing it, for some unknown reason, something went wrong. They were sucked into their own Video Game, and they must complete it to get back to the real world. Each brother must collect 5 keys to open the big door located at the end of the world.

Apparently, the two brothers have their own nicknames in their Video Game: Yuri (Antonio) and Bosco (Marco), and must defear their evil counterparts: Vladimir and Irgonichov, The Great Devil Brothers

GAMEPLAY

You can play as Yuri (the big brother), or Bosco (The young brother, actually me), and your mission is to defeat all the bad guys that are invading the colorfull virtual world.

All the content from this Video Game (except the music) is original and created by me.

I really hope that you enjoy it.

Holyday features, new levels and more!
Posted 19th Jan 14, by Marco Medina 1 Comment
I've been integrating a few new features the last months. That's right! The game contains calendar activated features, that includes: Graphics, campaigns, etc.

If you play the game on a particular date, the first level of each campaign will change its graphics according to the celebration.

The game has a total of six campaigns:
-Antonio's Campaign.
-Marco's Campaign.
-Halloween Campaign (Available only on October)
-Christmas Campaign (Available only on December)
-New Years Campaign (Available only on January)
-The midnight Campaign (Available only during midnight)

I might grant the players access to my own level editor (or a limited version of it), which is one of the debug features build inside the game, so they can create their own maps and play arround as much as they want, that would be fun!

8bit Music composer needed!
Posted 2nd Dec 12, by Marco Medina Post A Comment
My upcoming game "The Great Normal Brothers" is an 80's styled video game which is still in development, and it lacks of original music, I would really apreciate if someone helped me with that.

I need an 8-bit style music composer, with knowledge using trackers such as OpenMPT.

The first public demo (BETA) has been released in Jaunary 25, and can be downloaded right here:

Many bugs have been documented, don't worry, they'll be fixed in the next version.
