The Daily Click Arcade Compo!!!
News posted 18th March, 2010 by Rikus
With the Arcade up and running and with some more games coming in tomorrow, I think it is a great time to start up a little TDC Arcade compo. We challenge YOU to make a cool high-scoring game. We posted the rules up in the forum and be sure to take a look because there are some limitations on what either vitalize or flash can handle. Other then that have fun and I cant wait to see what games you all come up with! )

Oh and did I mention the winner will get the Flash extension for free?!!!!!! WOOHOO! (Thanks to OMC for arranging that with the good folks at clickteam!)

Whoa, I wa working on one before this.

I'll enter something if possible.

Also good to note that once you submit your game we will try to put it already up on the arcade even before the compo is over. So it will be cool over the next month to see more new games popping up on the arcade

I'm tempted to make something.

Though I already have the flash runtime. (Not that I'd have any chance of winning. )

In the end it is all in the name of fun right? And entertaining others? I would hope so

Oh my god! I'm definitely entering this.

I'm in
Of course, I always say that and then I'm too busy. I'll make an effort this time though - already have something in mind...

Erm, how are we to enter if we don't have the runtime or vitalize yet? Unless that taken care of in the faq.
*goes to read*

everyone who has mmf has vitalize -_-

The submission has to be open-source so we can check it out and add the high score submittal. So we can compile with the flash runtime!

Sounds good, and sorry for being a downer here but I must say I'd find it unfortunate if the majority here reverted to making only games for the Arcade here as I actually prefer having downloadables personally.

To be honest, I'd still prefer to focus on downloadable titles, if only for the fact that I use extensions that aren't supported by Vitalize or Flash. But I would like to revive some of my older Vitalize games that were on the V-Cade and move them over to the DC Arcade.

Don't worry Toadsanime. I and I think most prefer downloadable games too--I don't think they're going anywhere.

Downloadable will always be there because bigger games simply won't work that well in flash. But personally I'd love to see more and more people creating flash content for the Arcade. It's amazing what removing of barriers from user experience can do and by barriers I mean old fashioned 1) downloading, 2) unzipping, 3) installing/deleting. With flash everything is so much easier. Before you made a game and 30 people here bothered to download and play it, maybe only 5 of those with more than one game launch. Now you make a quick flash game for the Arcade and can get thousands of submitted scores, repeat play % of over 50, not even comparable total playing time. It's a whole new world in the sense that how accessible the games are among the community.

My comments/posts get always too long.

The flash extension comes with the Flash Export, which is what I think you meant to write in the news post.

technically, mmf now extends to export to flash. that extension is the prize, so it's more correct i guess to say flash extension
