TDC'S Daily News: General Poll Results
News posted 13th April, 2008 by Rikus
I was a little shocked to see this weeks poll results. A shocking 49 people never heard of Silky's before. Well for all those folks please let me guide you to the 1995 Klik-Timeline!.

Basically Silky's was the community site to go to back in 1995/1996. There was a forum called the wall and people could put k&p/tgf games to the site.

Also be sure to vote for our new poll "Do you think TDC should change names" it is a honest question. Let us know:)

It's kind of depressing to think that one of the key moments in klik history, is almost completely forgotten by so most everyone here.

I suddenly feel like an old war veteran, complaining about how no one in this world has any respect anymore, for the past. =(

the only reason i know about it is because i read the time-line from time to time. i think more and more people don't know about what it is because they weren't here when it was well known.

I knew about it; I wish I wasn't three years old at the time.

Never heard of it myself! Only got the Internet in 98.

Posted by Ricky 14th April, 2008

I heard about it in the time line. I was around 8 years old in 1995. TDC should remain TDC because I click on it Daily

I like how it has a timer telling you the last time it crashed

Hey guys! Get a REAL browser "all the online services now support Netscape and Explorer." lol.

As for this new poll, maybe we should consider another domain name or a domain name change, rather than changing the site name to reflect the domain name. The thedailyclick.com is probably taken, but I'm sure there would be a variant available?

Speaking of which, where's the '07 timeline?

I wasn't around for Silky's, but I do have fond memories of the Click Café.

Posted by Rikus 14th April, 2008

07 is comin, maybe after i finish this months klikcast

"Click Café" oooh yes. Got my first game reviewed there by some guy who wanted to smoke pot

"Explorer's nifty new Win '95 Internet Explorer Logo"

Shows how old Silky's is!

Keep the TDC name! Or at the very most, if you have to, change it to The Daily Klik.

"I suddenly feel like an old war veteran, complaining about how no one in this world has any respect anymore, for the past. =("

Funny, that. Doesn't make you a better kliker though.

Posted by Dr. James MD 14th April, 2008

Sounds like a certain site has been given an offer!

Posted by Rikus 14th April, 2008

No offer, just could not think up any other polls

"The Daily Klik"

Never EVER call it that. I shudder every time i read the word Klik. I know the FIRST software was called Klik, but none of the others after that have had that word in the name and it's actually disgusting. I really don't know why they thought it was a good idea to spell click wrong.

If the word "Klik" every appears in this sites title i will never visit here again. End of.

"Klik" is fine to indicate the Dutch word for "Click", but nothing else in my opinion. Image

"Funny, that. Doesn't make you a better kliker though."

Where... did that come from, may I ask?

Yeah Adam.

WOW, I never knew such a website ever existed! I had Klik & Play back then, but I didn't have internet access yet! And even when we got AOL (ug) I wouldn't have known how to look for a website or post games. lol

Kill all the infidels!

Posted by AndyUK 14th April, 2008

Ive been clicking for about 9 years now and i wasn't around when the wall was the main click forum.

A good portion of current clickers were probably still in nappies in 1995. I myself didn't own a pc until 2000.

Posted by Silveraura 14th April, 2008

From day one, I've always considered myself a kliker. Technically thats what we are. Klikers who use Click software. Silly? Perhaps... but it stuck, and it's most of the later members, who don't get it, that don't use it.

Posted by DaVince 14th April, 2008

Most of the people seem so well-spoken... well, typed, on there. Plus people seem a lot more technically knowledgeable. The internet in its earlier days seems a lot different.

Posted by Ski 14th April, 2008

You see, this is exactly the crap I can't stand. This
"superior" crap about "Ive been here since day one, blah blah blah" This is a community site, it's about expansion, welcoming new people and equality. You are no more superior or more advanced than a member who has joined today, BrandonC, so get off your high horse. The click community online is merely a way of communicating and showing work, it's in MMF2 and TGF etc where the real status is developed.

Posted by The Chris Street 14th April, 2008

Ok, chill out matey.

Posted by Rikus 14th April, 2008

I do not think Brandon meant it that way Jelly, there is nothing wrong to see how the click community evolved, no1 is superior just older lol, and maybe more experienced in ways to handle certain events because of that past. In a way that site was a stepping stone for other sites like this one.

Posted by Silveraura 14th April, 2008

Welcome more people, but not have them criticize what was at one point, considered fine to say. At one point, considering yourself a kliker was not immature or annoying, it was normal.

If a kliker isn't welcome, unless they consider themselves a clicker, (god forbid 2 letters should be changed), then maybe the community really is hitting rock bottom. It's like the USA, once upon a time with good intentions, now shitting out the mouth.

Posted by Rikus 16th April, 2008

Oh and ps, i'll try and finish the timeline this weekend

Posted by nim 17th April, 2008

Hey Rikus, thanks for uploading pages from The Wall. I see a few people spending a lot of time arguing over stupid things. How the community has changed..!

Any chance of bringing back The Wall and hosting it here?

I also have an old archive of The Wall:
