GameHippo Rumour Clarification
News posted 12th August, 2005 by The Chris Street
This post may be considered a bit of a departure from usual front page outings, but I feel that a lot of you, including myself, have been taken for a ride. I want to clarify a recently developed issue.

A while ago, there were whisperings of a GameHippo/Caiman.us merger, to create a supersized community freeware website. The news was posted HERE, allegedly by Boson (the main owner of GameHippo). However, upon travelling to the Caiman.us forums (found HERE), the owner of the website denied any involvements in any talks with GameHippo. Later on, Boson told the owner that hackers had somehow placed the news.

So what, you might be asking? Well, I went to the TDC forums this morning, and found a topic saying "Congrats Circy!" Intrigued, I opened it and was somewhat alarmed to discover that I had been appointed as a reviewer at GameHippo. Next, I went to my e-mail inbox, and discovered nine congratulatory e-mails regarding my new position. So, off to GameHippo I went, and there it was on-screen: "Circy from the Daily Click website (http://www.create-games.com) has joined the Gamehippo reviewing team. He will only be reviewing games made using the Clickteam products"...

I have to stress that this is simply not true. I have never applied for any position as a reviewer at GameHippo, nor have I been asked by any of the GameHippo administration. I've sent an e-mail to Boson asking why this news is on the front page of GameHippo; I've had no reply yet, but I suspect that hackers have done the same thing as mentioned earlier - reported false news.

So yes, I just wanted to make clear that, at present, I am not affiliated with the GameHippo administration in any shape or form. Of course, should they actually ask me themselves to join, then I probably will, and I may have to leave either TDC or Klik-Me behind as a result. For now though, rest comfortably that your favourite admin (lol) isn't going to ruin another community site. And please, don't be taken in by any rumours. I will confirm myself whether or not such news is true.

"Of course, should they actually ask me themselves to join, then I probably will, and I may have to leave either TDC or Klik-Me behind as a result." Why, might I ask? Oh, I checked that Gamehippo site and looked in their Adventure/RPG area and the first game I saw was a TGF/MMF game, right up at the top of it all. The graphics looked amazing, but unfortunately I didn't download it to try it out.

Well, think about it... if I didn't leave, I would be working for three community sites, and I don't know if I'd have the time to work / maintain all three of them.

"don't be taken in by any rumours" To be honest, Circ, it was posted on GameHippo's front page. It wasn't exactly a rumour. Why anyone would hack a website just to do this boggles the mind though.

Circy, I work at 6 sites and I happen to find alot of time.

Posted by Broomie 13th August, 2005

That is, managing to find time to work on the sites and go out aswell. I'm not like that South Korean twat who kills himself because he's glued to the PC.

Yeah but I'm also working on MSD2, going out in real life, trying to help Clickteam with organising convention travel for people, etc... And I'm going shopping now! Bye!

Oh

I wonder if he confused me and you, I applied for a reviewer there and didn't get an email back.

Well no one ever said you'd still have to work for places. See, if you want to work three places at once and you can't keep up and have no free time (especially if you're doing it for free) you're putting it upon yourself! However, that doesn't mean you should stop visiting any of the sites and saying hello as you casually do, right? That is how I read that line, Circy.

Does that mean that heterosexual males starve to death? If that was true, then the human race would die off. And Circy, that's very wierd, but you do so much work here you could probably do less and devote some time to another site if you wanted to.

"Yeah but I'm also working on MSD2, going out in real life, trying to help Clickteam with organising convention travel for people, etc... And I'm going shopping now! Bye!" And I'm working on three huge games, going out in real life, a girlfriend which believe me takes up your life, making a website for a company (earning £200 for it), work, ect... And I'm going to a Barbeque! Bye! That wasn't actually a piss take, all those things are happening, including the BBQ. So, yeah bye! :)

(I wish the comments had the ability to edit them aswell) But I'm not saying you do have enough time for all of them. Whatever you do is up to you, also if I have my motorbike by September I might pop into that pub you were talking about and say hello. I'd order a pint aswell yet I'm only a mere 17 years old.

Yeah well, I went out to find a new suit, because I've outgrown my old ones. Didn't find one, mind, that I wanted, so I bought a new webcam instead. Oh joy!

Not really XD A GameHippo editor job would prove to be a huge turning point for me, and if I were to apply for a journalism course / job, I could use that as a reference.
