My new game is almost ready to upload but I don't have a url to host the zip file and sample screens. What is the best way to go about this? I have tried building a 'free' web site and although I could upload stuff, it wouldn't allow downloads. Thanks.

Hey Dave, what was the host you tried? Some are more friendly toward direct download links than others.

The download can be hosted on a general webhost or a filehosting service like: http://www.mediafire.com (A direct link is preferable though) For screenshots, you can go for a normal webhost or one like photobucket or imageshack that's meant for pictures.

http://www.webs.com should work in a pinch.

You can upload directly to www.gamebuilder.info and then link that to here. Thats what I do
I recommend Photobucket for screen shots

Thanks for your help.

Clayton, I used 'webeden' to build a site. I'll try webs. I had forgotten about photobucket.

I've decided to use 'mediafire' (works fine) for game downloads and 'photobucket' (untried) for screenshots.

In 'photobucket', do I need to copy and paste the 'image link code' for the sample screens of my game (IMG for bulletin boards and forums) directly. Also, should I use 'full image' or 'clickable thumbnail'? Sorry to ask these silly questions but I can't remember the last time I had to all this.

Marko, try 'wix.com'. I found this the best looking web builder around but I didn't progress very far with it. I just wanted somewhere to host my game.

You just want the direct link. The one that starts with http:// and ends with the picture's file extension. Any embed code will mess it up.
