I haven't had TGF crash on me in some time. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

Upgrade to MMF2 if it continues.

Right click the Games Factory .exe and you'll find some compatibility modes there in some of the tabs.

To run an application in compatibility mode, right-click the exe, click properties, click the compatibility tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode..." and hit ok. TGF1 usually behaves for me and only crashes if I cause a lockup with my programming.

If you start to do high complex stuff with TGF or import lots of stuff (actives or backgrounds) it will freeze and crash. Yup TGF1 is buggy but if you treat it right, it'll run awesomely for you. Poob's being coded in TGF and I have had no problems. (except if you port it to MMF2)

tgf 1 used to crash a lot for me too.
I upgraded to mmf 1.5 rather quickly back then though, and I haven't had a crashing problem since.

nope, none

I used to love TGF1's interface as well, but MMF2 isn't that bad. Now I actually can't go back.

I feel the same. I love the TGF interface. But since using the demo of TGF2 which I will be buying the the full version of and I can't go back. I've already noticed that tgf lacks where TGF2 brings.

I don't know why but that last sentence doesn't seem to make much sense to me but nevermind.

Although TGF didn't crash for me all that often I wouldn't have been all that surprised. It is pretty damn old. In fact the most frequent cause of crashing seemed to be deleting a large amount of objects at once. That goes for MMF2 too!

Yeah, I might try TGF2, since it's more similar to TGF1 and it's cheaper.

It crashed when I added a bunch of new formulas and counters in my game, (trying to do an RPG, the type of game i always wanted to finish )

I can upload the same gam file to it right? So I can just start again where I left off?

You should be able to. In some cases there can be trouble. One of my old projects, Balding Overweight Man, didn't port at ALL to MMF2, it was an awful mess. But that's usually the exception.

BTW, MMF2's interface is actually closer to TGF1 than TGF2 is, because of the icon sizes. The only difference in the UI are the icon sizes. Think of MMF2 as LEGO bricks and TGF2 as Duplo bricks. MMF2 is much easier to look at and use than TGF2 for me. Plus, MMF2 supports extensions like TGF1 did, but TGF2 doesn't. It's confusing, I know. I would recommend at least upgrading to MMF2 later.

One thing I don't like about MMF2 is that it seems too cluttered with all these toolbars. TGF1 is just so simple.

Although I do love the option to zoom out to 25%, makes your game look all teenie weenie. *facepalm*

That was my impression too. Even after getting somewhat used to MMF2, whenever I go back I miss it all over again. :\ Even when you get rid of some of the unnecessary stuff and make the properties window a dialog, is still seems "meh." Oh well, it's an awesome product anyway, I don't mean to complain. Thanks Clickteam, we <3 you!
