Hi,

This is just a little experiment that I did with a starfield effect with motion blurring, light frequency doppler effect and light travel delay.

It probably hasn't worked properly but it still looks quite pretty so I made it into a screensaver.

Hope you like it

Another fantastic piece of programming way over my head. I plan on using this for my game-building computer, thumbs up!

Yay That was great..

Instead of using it in a screen saver, you should use it in a space game like Elite / Frontier or StarRaiders from the Old Atari.

Posted by ben mercer 27th May, 2007

Not really into that type of game, so maybe one of you guys could use the effect to make one? Like I said the source is available on clickteam forums.

Heh some bastard always votes thumbs down. Tell me WHY for the love of god?!?

Whats to hate it's just a freaking screensaver!

I think people who vote thumbs down for everything should be banned.

Posted by Nillo 28th May, 2007

On the other hand, what's there to complain about? It's just a freaking thumbs down.

Nice screensaver btw.

ben mercer: i think you should be banned for being named Ben Mercer, still your here

Posted by DaVince 28th May, 2007

I think that people who dislike others and therefor just blindly vote thumbs down should be banned.

Posted by Johnny Look 28th May, 2007

I noticed there's a lot of great games who get exactly 1 thumbs down lately, I'd say there someone jealous around here.

Posted by axel 28th May, 2007

Apparently some idiot who's dedicated his life to ruining other people's chances of getting 100%

Posted by Del Duio 29th May, 2007

I thought that Captain of the Guard 2 was going to be 100% too, until one day..

You're right I think that someone always votes thumbs down just to be a jerk. If I don't like a game, I don't vote anything for it, period. Only games I like get a thumbs up and that's it. They should incorporate something similar at TDC. Thumbs up would mean that somebody came back to the game and gave the author props. If the player didn't like it, he can still of course say so on the comments section.

Ben, I see this while making sandwiches and taking craps away from Hasslevania and it's impressive still! It took me awhile to figure out where the screen savers folder was exactly but that was my fault

I think the admins can see who voted for each game, or at least they should they should be able to.

Posted by ben mercer 30th May, 2007

Its not the thumbs down that bothers me really, its just the fact that someone who wants to vote thumbs down for everything can do so without telling the author what was so badly wrong with their creation.

In my opinion, a DC user should have to post a comment on your game before they can vote thumbs up/thumbs down, and if they delete the comment, their vote is removed. Also their vote should be displayed on their comment.

That way, you would know who voted thumbs down and they would be obliged to tell you why. Most of the "thumbs down 4 eva" morons would probably just not bother.

"I think the admins can see who voted for each game, or at least they should they should be able to."

Download votes are saved in a database, otherwise TDC wouldn't be able to tell if you've already voted for a game. You could probably find out who this thumbs down-moron is with some well-placed SQL query.

"I thought that Captain of the Guard 2 was going to be 100% too, until one day.. "
Except that COTG2 wasn't all THAT great, so it's a bit more logical people thumbs down.
