This here's an engine test for my next game, Anti-Grav Land!
No... That's a stupid name... I'll change it later. It's my first attempt at a game in MMF, the interface... Disgusts me.

Well, its set in a world where an evil crazy super mad scientist has made a machine that reverses the world's gravity, with a large machine around the planet.
He has done this for no reason whatsoever.

Hmm...

Features:
-Reversed Gravity, You jump DOWN the screen and fall UP it!
-Decent custom engine.
-Springs.
-Slopes (Fixed sloping animation bug in new version).
-A fully animated character.
-Parallax scrolling.

Controls:
Move left/right - Left/right cursor keys.
Jump - Fire 1 (Shift by default) hold Fire 1 to jump higher.
Toggle Debug mode - Backspace

Debug mode re-visiblises all the detectors and shows you the Movement Values.
Could y'all tell me if you find any bugs, please?
I thank ye.

Also: Does this webhost work, for the main download? I'm having trouble finding one with direct linking that supports zip files...

EDIT: Uploaded new version, fixed sloping animation bug (thanks Joe - Scorpion E)

It's kind of cool. What I think you should do is add reversible gravity: step on a switch and you fall the opposite direction. The walking animation looks sort of weird, though.

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

I think I may put normal gravity as the first couple of levels then Gregor gets SUCKED UP TO THAT MAGIC THINGY IN THE SKY! :o

Wow! Nice concept and nice engine. can't wait to see some more... thumbup

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

Thanks ^_^ Anyone found any bugs?

Posted by J.J 23rd May, 2004

Pretty cool :) The walking animation looked a bit wierd. But this could be a funny & cool game! Looking forward!

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

I'll probably edit the walking animation a bit, I'm not very good at graphics...

Posted by The Chris Street 23rd May, 2004

Mr Stumps Dentures has reversible gravity :D

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

Yes, I know.

well, what can i say. thumbs up i beleive.. :P

Neat. Made explorer crash though. :\ Liked it. :o

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

That's really... Unexpected! :O What made explorer crash? Do you have the newest DirectX?

Posted by Joe.H 23rd May, 2004

i found an animation bug, but nothing else: when you go down the slope, the animation doesn't always change to walking

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

Ah, thanks, I'll try and fix that. I'm glad about the nothing else part. ^_^

Posted by PreviousPlasma (DarkSoft) 23rd May, 2004

Yeah. I'm sure its not a bug with the game Phizzy, its probaly my computer. Always crashing and the like. Ran it a second time, and it didn't. Can't wait for the full version. Should be a corker of a game.

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

Oooh, thanks. I'm glad to hear it's your computer XD I fixed the animation bug now. ^_^ Had to kind of re-do the sloping engine, needed another detector. I don't really know what kind of enemies to have in this, though, maybe jumping on their heads to kill them, or maybe collect guns and rocks to throw at them... I'm definitely going to have a minigame which is like Mortal Kombat, with 2 players. And maybe like a 2 player split screen thing. that's if I can figure out how to do that, of course.

Posted by PreviousPlasma (DarkSoft) 23rd May, 2004

Yeah, have mini-games. They always add variety and stuff. A mortal kombat Mini-game would be hella cool. Or maybe a upside down first person shoot em up? Who knows! :P

Posted by 23rd May, 2004

Oh yeah, i could do that... I can use Mode7 now, can't I...

A rather well made engine you've got there, Phizzy. I found an animation bug too, when you jump and hit your head on the platform above (or in this case, below) you, the character plays the 'turning' animation. It's probably got to do with the way your animations are set up though, not the code. Good to see you're experimenting with ideas like parallax scrolling and springs and the like. You'll have some quality games underway before you know it. Also, the turning animation is fairly smooth and looks good. All you really need to do is work on the walking animation. Keep it up.

Posted by 24th May, 2004

Yay, not really any bad comments! ^_^ I'll try and figure that little bug out there, Rick. Walking was the first animation I did after my original design, so I guess it is a little crap... I'll fix that now.

Posted by 24th May, 2004

I've redone the walking animation now, it looks much better to me. He even puts his feet on the ground! :O

Posted by Simon Colmer 24th May, 2004

wow, this is real good. I like the turning animations! Very classy

This is pretty cool. This is the best game you've made so far. :) Good luck with it!

Posted by colej_uk 24th May, 2004

Unique. This should be good :)

Posted by Tom Alder 24th May, 2004

yh i was gonna mention the animation bug, but a few other people mentioned it first. :D

Posted by Peblo 25th May, 2004

ohh, this is cool. although if i push a combo of buttons my monitor flips upside down (not an bug, it can do that, it's really cool!) so i can just play it like any other platformer.

Posted by 25th May, 2004

DON'T DO THAT! THAT'S CHEATING!!!!!

Posted by Retired Kliker Lazarus 25th May, 2004

Mmmmyep. Cheater. XD

Posted by Echisketch(PS) 29th May, 2004

Nice stuff man, smooth, and a nice concept.

Posted by Wormware 18th October, 2004

Wait, then he can also play all the games reversed.. That's cool, then this game isn't that useful. BTW, what's different about reversed gravity. No offence, but I don't think it's really cool.. Unless it adds something to the game, perhaps a puzzleplatform game, you need to switch to collect the other gems (for example..).. I dunno, but nice work!

Posted by J.J 25th October, 2004

ehh? This was stupid but it might be usefull for somone. Not me....

Posted by 26th October, 2004

"it might be useful for someone" what? This download is useful for noone but me. I'm making a game, and this was a public engine test. I believe you to be a dumbass with no eyes.

Posted by 30th October, 2004

Hey, wait, you commented when I first put it up, you're just posting random crap and saying its bad without even looking at what you're commenting on, aren't you?

Posted by J.J 30th October, 2004

ehh? No i downloaded this shit.

Posted by 2nd November, 2004

No need to lie, I have your computer impounded by santa.

Posted by DaVince 26th November, 2005

Muhaha. posting a year later. MUHAHAHA!

Posted by Peblo 9th December, 2005

...your a couple days off.

Posted by 16th December, 2005

You too, silly!

Posted by Bibin 12th March, 2006

Technically, it should be "Reversed Gravity Land' because anti gravity means that you aren't pulled towards anything.

Posted by joelr_2000 13th March, 2006

how hard do u cop it from behind phizz, yess i remember u, ur games still are gay. ripping graphics is the bomb, saves not having to make ya own so ya got more time to have sex and smoke dope. u obviously dnt hav a gf if uve made soo many freakin games and apps. Too much time on ya hands, get a cunt up ya. Peace

Posted by 6th April, 2006

Oh, really hard. And 'still'? Yeah, old things stay the same. Ripping graphics is something retarded, completely untalented people do.

Your other super-logical statements are just way too clever for me to even respond to.

Posted by DaVince 15th September, 2006

Finish this or make a game like it!!1

Posted by The Track Master 7th October, 2006

I don't believe it Phizzy, you are very late with your games.

Posted by DaVince 10th July, 2010

Yeah, Phizzy! Where is the full game?
