Ever since Clickteam announced that they were going to be coming out with a "Save Game" extension, I have noticed a couple of people getting extremely, well, defensive. It's as if they resent the fact that "noobs" will now be able to do something (save the whole game state, such as active object positions) that once required a large amount of skill. Once this extension becomes available, saving your game will be a matter of "klicks". Even level editors should in theory, be much easier to make.

Of course all of the above sounds like a good thing, but a few people seem to think that relying on extensions is "weak" or "lazy". But that is the point of MMF, is it not? Too make things easier, so we can spend more time on GAME DESIGN and not coding. I don't care who can make the greatest "custom save engine" or "custom level editor". I WANT extensions to do these things so I can focus more on my game. Thats the whole reason I use click products.

I also can't wait for MMF 2, which will finally eliminate the need for custom platform movement engines. Of course even then, their will be people who insist that using a custom movement is somehow "better", and that only "noobs" use the built in movement. They will waste time making custom movement, even though the one built in MMF 2 will probably be great.

I can already see what is happening as more extensions become available, and using MMF becomes even easier. People will criticize those who make use of the premade movements, and useful extensions. The bottom line is, do you want to make an engine or a game?
